Roadrunner in Dukes of Hazzard movie!

Post by asuperdry » Wed Dec 19, 2012 5:45 pm

I haven't seen this posted in here, although I have heard talk about it and seen a couple of pictures and even that short clip from the movie all posted here. Well here she is in all her glory the 1971 Plymouth Roadrunner used in the movie, along with a small appearance by the general lee, both out ripping up a field.

Looks to me like they didn't quite get the front corners of the hood fixed right. Which you can see when you look at the hood when the "Road Runner" is backing out of the garage. Sort of like that old saying. You know, the one where if you put lipstick on a pig. Is it still a pig?

Yep, that's a 73 satellite hood. Same hood that was on my 73 SSP parts car.

that appears to be 2 different cars. the first video has the rear bumper off a 71, the second video looks to be a 72 rear bumper.

I agree, the cars in the two videos don't have the same rear bumper.

Of course they are differant. Movies and tv shows dont know how to use the right car all the time. Just like in the 78 Dukes of hazzard they had a 71 or 72 painted with the 73 stripes they dont think any one will notice. In the first show they used a 73 Roadrunner.

I almost bought one of these cars from the movie. I was in 05. I was for sale on ebay. It was one of 4 or 5 of cars they had built for the movie. The one I was looking at had a quick piant job done and the decals they used were included but not installed. It had the black and orange interior no carpet. I think it had a 400 in it. This car was built to make a jump towards the end of the movie, but was not used at all. It sold for around 1,700. I missed out on the bidding towards the end (slow computer). I did have pics. I'll have to look for them.
