It's nice to see the prices. But keep in mind that the price they show on their website. Reflects the 10% add on fee that you as a buyer have to pay BJ for the privilege of buying the car from them. That doesn't go to the seller. Then the seller winds up paying about another 10% to BJ for the privilege of letting them sell the car for him. Cars run through the BJ auction on the first day. Are considered "little" guys cars. Where you and I might be able to pay that much money. But they wouldn't consider running those through Friday's auction or prime time Saturday. You don't see Ron Pratt sitting in the front row. Or guys like him. The first couple of days.

I would say that the buyer of the '74 360 Charger. Got themselves a heck of a great buy. You could tell looking at it. That there was way more money than that spent on the restoration of that car. If anything, the owner took a bath on it. It wasn't appreciated by the bidders for as good as it was. I think what hurt the price of the restored black '71 GTX air grabber car. Was the fact that it had a '72 Road Runner style red C-stripe on the car. If you're going to add something onto a car you're selling. Then make sure it was available on it. Otherwise the most you can hope for. Is that someone else with money has the same tastes as you do, and wants it. Or as one old car salesman told me when I was young, and trading in a car. "Son take my advice. Take your car home first, and remove all of that stuff you've put on it. It doesn't add one dime to the value of it as far as we're concerned." So that's what I did. I put most of it back on the car I traded for!

:D I saw that 74 Charger 360 car. The guys on the show said (more then one time) that the car wasn't the type you see restored to that degree...that it wasn't a desirable model year. One guy said if it was a 318 car, it would be a parts car! It was a restoration of love for sure. The seller had to take a huge bath!!!

I'll bet if that buyer tried getting $32k online, he would be waiting a long, long, long time. Just my opinion. It was a super nice car, just not a whole lot of love for the 73/74 Chargers. :(

All B-J is doing is making mopars the play toys for the super rich. No wonder the younger generations are building imports. The older mopar folks have excluded and even laughed in their faces. Remember your car is only worth what somebody is willing to pay and if they keep it up they will have no buyers at all.
In time this is what will be said to future generations.

Friday night's B-body highlight was:

Lot 1052: 1971 GTX 440-6/4spd. $51K

Really nice looking car and very few 6 pack four speed cars produced. It didnt go cheap and it didnt go outrageous either. Pretty much right on par with the value in Old Cars price guide. What do you guys think about the price? Too low - too high - about right?

The 71 GTX 426 HEMI pilot car VIN 0008 was nice as well.

Yep, I was surprised the consigner lumped the GTX pilot car with the 70 Coronet R/T Vert pilot car. They both went for $125K or $63K apiece. I think he left some money on the table by selling them as a pair.

Speaking of a good buy. The 1971 RR with the Hemi upgrade went for $36K. The engine alone is $12-15K isnt it??

That's why I could never understand why someone would sell their car at a no reserve auction. I think it limits your potential buyers to whoever is there at the time your car goes on the block.

That was the seller's mistake. Or possibly bad advice. As you could of put your car in with a reserve at B-J this time. But putting cars in as a package deal. Usually sells for less money. Than if you sell them separately.
