I have loved the shape of the 71-72 cars way back when they weren't cool at all, it had to be a "pre-71" car to be cool. I loved it back then when these cars were 'dime a dozen' and not too many people wanted them. I loved these cars way before this 'hobby' turned into the greedy business it is today. My fourth car was a very fast 71 RR 383 4sp FJ6 on black, black strobe that I paid $500...and I probably over paid at the time...

I really looked over the pics of your black car. Although I have owned several 'pre-71' Satellites/Belvederes/Roadrunners, they have absolutely NOTHING over a 71-72 Roadrunner. I'm serious. They drive better. They handle better. They are smaller. The glass is bigger. The interior is much nicer. The seats are better. Spoilers, hello! Don't get me started on the colours and stripes!!! I just laugh when I hear these '68-70 only' guys talk. I like 66-67 b-bodies and 73-80 Roadrunners too (yes, you read that right!), but the ones we like on this board are the best, by far. Great pics!

With age our tastes change. When these cars first came out. I couldn't stand the looks of FJ6 Sassy-Grass Green. Even when they mistakenly painted my first '69 Daytona that color! But now at 64. I really liked the looks of the FJ6, and have for several years now. I like black too. But it's a lot of work to keep the darn thing clean! I know, because I had a black Hemi Daytona, and my '64 Belvedere I have now is black. Enjoy the black until you can get the money up to have it repainted the green.

FJ6 is an awesome color on 71 B Bodies! Here's a couple pics of one of our member's cars for inspiration

Hi Alex, there was a very good discussion on the custom auto sound syereo and speaker upgrades as well as install photo's back in July of this year- or what's left of this year... Happy New Year to all!!!

Bingo! Even though I really like the looks of these cars in black, sassy grass is a hard color to argue with. And as much as I'd like to paint it tomorrow, I don't exactly have any more of that "money" stuff people typically use to get their car painted. But when I do have the funds, another issue that really makes it easy to go back to FJ6 is the engine bay and trunk: both were poorly painted the first time the car was painted black, and when the car was repainted the second time, they didn't touch the engine bay, which is the worst - it looks like a blind 7 year old was handed a can of splatter paint and told to go to town. There are giant patches of the original green that are unpainted, and anywhere paint has chipped green is showing through. Pretty bad  Being a details guy and a guy that loves a clean engine bay, I'm pretty torn as what to do, seeing that I plan on painting it geen again. I just don't know when that'll be...

Transam - I actually read the install/review thread right before I pulled the trigger and bought the unit! And I agree - great info and it sounds like they make a decent product.

And thanks again for the inspirational photos of FJ6! It'll be green eventually...and it'll eventually have a '71 HP block (if I can't find the original block). That's a whole other issue :D

And 71GTX – if you love the slot mags enough to write “love” in CAPS then you should buy em!!! :D seriously though, they are for sale if you or anyone you know would like some clean 15x7 Indy’s. And I’m picking up what you’re putting down – I got plenty of crap for abandoning the old school slot mags over on FBBO. I like the mags, but got an amazing deal on the new wheels, and I like the look.

Thanks again for the comments guys – it’s great to finally join the site.
I'm on FBBO too....cool beaners....What are you asking for the wheels??

I had the guys at ACS do my stock AM/FM radio @8 years ago with the aux out jacks. Worth every penny so I could hook up an EQ to splitt the signal to the power amp and Bazooka sub. Although I am still chasing a alternator whine when the CD changer is in use. No matter, I love the stock look and the modern tunes, especially when the girls are expecting the whopping 2watt stock unit. You'll like it.

No worries - Putting aux inputs in a stock radio is a pretty sweet idea! Like most, I just couldn't live with myself cutting up the dash, and putting a head unit in the glovebox or under the seat ain't ideal (but it's not a terrible option). I plan on installing the new radio this afternoon (seeing that it'll be a scorching 45 degrees today) and will post a pic or two after it's in. I test fit it last night and it looks pretty slick :o
