Xmas SSP Big Block

Post by magnumsebring » Sun Dec 25, 2011 8:35 am

Deals are still out there!
I ran across this SSP when looking for some parts for my Sebring pro tour build
I tried not to get excited when I showed up to buy this"parts car"
It was late in the evening last week when I arrived- The SSP had been sitting under a cover in the back yard
The body had been primed years ago (more than 5) and had rusted the body up pretty bad( See pics)
I crawled under the body and looked for the usual places for rust holes and rot- I had to weld a few patch panels in my 72 so I knew right where to look- Solid as new!
Next lets look at the inside
The door handles were removed and windows were rolled up so it took a while to get in the car
while the owner was trying to get into car I wanted to look under the hood
I got the hood open ( it had a inside hood release so I felt around for the cable since there was no grille and gave it a yank and POP)
There was blanket that covered A Big block with no valve covers.
I could tell this car was a unmolested jewel- It looked pretty stock- had a old aftermarket air cleaner
I realized the owner needed some help trying to get in the car
We had to crawl thru the trunk and open a window with a broom handle)
I could see there were a lot of parts that were in good shape
Under the crap was a great looking interior( Sweet)
I threw some jumper cables on and the motor and it tuned over- so I figured lets get a deal done
Got it home and proceeded to tighten up the body before the cold/wet weather came
We had a warm couple of days so I sanded the entire car took care of the surface rust( the hood was pitted the worst and shot some Epoxy primer on it-( i added some black to the primer to darken it up)
Next was the interior- It was full of parts/boxes and some parts from other cars
I came across 1 of the 2 build sheets- It was in great shape
I found the second one under 1 of the buckets but it was in pieces
What I can tell it was a factory 400 big block 4 barrel AC
buckets seats arm rest
dual eXhaust( factory rear valance has cut outs) it was in the trunk primed but the under side is the same color as the car- It has magnum 500 wheels with the center caps and trim rings
Here are some pics

The first pic is Sebring I am working on currently
If some knows a little about how to deciper a build sheet or a good site to look up some these codes it would be great
Merry Xmas- everyone
and X-mas miracles do still happen!!

Ya Gotta love that find
Sometimes I get to feeling that if Xmas, Fathers Day and my Birthday did not exist, then aftershave too would not exist.
