Nice vintage photo! I can just imagine taking a test drive. The creak of that fresh vinyl - the smooth acceleration of leaded premium. Led Zepplin and Janis Joplin on the AM Radio - the smoke of a KOOL cigarette that the car salesman lights up to show me how the lighter works. Ahh.

Is the color of the hood off or what?

First I thought it was reflected light but the header panel looks OK!

I think you are looking at the sky. The header panel is a slightly different angle. So is the raised portion of the hood.
