Love the progress 71Beeper! You are doing a very nice job with all the repairs. It does seem endless at times - just gotta keep plugging along.

you, if anyone know the feeling. Last couple of weekends I haven't been able to work on it, with a Mopar show happening and then now that the nice weather is here - other stuff comes up.
But, none the less, I was back at it today, finished cleaning up the passenger side of the rad support.
Then put some primer on it.
Finally I was able to start prepping the inner fender for that side. I got the reproduction inner fenders from Dales Cuda shop.
Here's a test fit.
Next step is to drill some holes in it for where the spot welds will go.

So, Back at it today. This time I've prepped the inner fender and getting it ready to weld. Here's the back side of it.
with the copper weld prep applied.
Here's the front side on a final fit check.
Now to mark the holes for drilling.
and to drill the holes for spot welding.
And finally do the welding.
Now I have to do some clean-up and give a final coat of primer.

So now I've put on some all metal to clean up the welds and am sanding the all metal down.
Then give it a final coat of primer to finish it off.
I did find one spot I have to go over, it's close to the firewall - I'll have to sand it a little more and re-primer.
And now onto to the drivers side inner fender.

More deconstruction today. No more drivers side inner fender.
Now onto the K-member. I took some pics of the drivers side engine mount area, it looks like it was modified by all of the crappy welds around it.
So I cleaned up all of the grease that the leaky power steering pump has left behind.
Do any of you guys have some pictures of the drivers side engine mount area that hasn't been modified that you could post here? That would help me out alot. FYI the engine going in will be a small block.
I don't think the K-member is different between small and big block correct?

The welds might be factory. You have to remember the factory wouldn't spend a large amount of time for something like this. "Just get the part out the door" kind of mentality. My K looks the same, least did before I stiffened it up

Hope you plan on redoing the rest of the front suspension. You should take everything apart glass bead it paint it with all new suspension parts. One thing i hate to see is a car that looks good on the outside but they forget to do the underside.

Moparite - the front suspension was done by the previous owner who had it as a drag car. I have all new rubber bushings and new torsion bars on it. Believe me, once all the body and paint are done, the underside of the k-member and suspension components will be detailed. I did it the same way on my previous 1976 Road Runner. I will get the components powder coated. here's what my 76 Runner pieces looked like from the powdercoater.

I hope your K-member looks better than this.
Look at the gap I circled in red, as sloppy as the factory was back then, I don't think they were that sloppy.
Here's a picture of a k-member I took from E-bay, see how the drivers side mount looks compared to mine.
Now I have detached the lower brace as it's been shortened and doesn't go across the width of the mount. I'll have to fix that.

The part you circled looks broke to me
