Nice! Any thoughts on just setting up the Air Grabber door on a manual cable that you can pull from under the dash? Something like a manual choke operation?
Scott.

Scott....In my opinion I think you would need to have at least some of the under hood components for a cable setup to work.
As I have none of them I had to fix the door in the open position so it is rigid enough to withstand the force of the wind while driving at any speeds.
Having just the hinge for support would not be enough.
I'm okay with that - as I prefer to have it open all of the time as it's a good escape for the under hood heat when the car is not running.
Now getting caught in a rainstorm...... that's another thing.

So I've been having some painting issues concerning the Air Grabber setup.
The initial primer application went on just fine.
The satin black application not so much.
Just a note - I'm rattle can spraying this Air Grabber. So the first product I used is the Mar Hyde satin black.

The underside of the Air Grabber....it went on perfect!
The topside..... not so much.

You may be able to see the streaking.
Anyways, it may be due to the excessive humidity we have had in this area the last little while.
Did I also mention that I'm painting this outside & nowhere near the car....

So, my neighbor, who's a body and paint guy said to try the Rustoleum 2X satin.

So I did.......problem with that paint is it's too shiny like a semi gloss black, not a satin black.
Not to mention every time I sprayed a coat something just had to land on the fresh paint... making me have to go back and resand it.

So my third attempt I thought I'd try a flat black paint.

Since the satin black was too shiny I thought maybe the flat would be just like the satin.
Well, I was wrong.

Here's what it looks like with the flat black.

So, I'm going to wait till the humidity goes away from this area and try it again.
I'm also going to try painting it inside in my other garage attached to the house and I'll sit the Air Grabber insert vertically.

In the meantime I have to get back to the engine.

Thanks Kevin - is yours anywhere near done?
Post some pics will ya.
So this weekend was too humid to do any painting so I had some time to get the oil pan on the engine.
The engine is in a one car garage that's attached to the house and it too is an oven trying to work in there.

I also had some time to pull the clutch pedal/brake pedal assembly from the attic.

I bought it from a buddy who was going to convert his dad's Charger to a 4 speed car and when his dad found out about he said no way.
So I bought whatever 4 speed stuff he accumulated.
So as you can see, he took it apart and had the bit primed.
The most important piece is missing......the main shaft that supports the pedals, so I put an order in to Brewers and my parts came in.

So, I'll be able to put it back together and get it in the car.

With the weather finally cooling down and the humidity gone I got back to painting the Air grabber setup.
I sprayed it inside the front garage.
First thing I had to do was to put the wife's Mini outside.

Then put up some plastic to protect from overspray.
I sprayed some black primer on it but the same spot on the door reacted so I removed the door.

Took it to the other garage to sand it down.
In the meantime I'm putting on light coats of the SEM satin black.
I cleaned up the door and put it ins its place on the assembly and am continuing with the light coats.
So far so good....fingers crossed.

So I waited till the next day to put the finishing coats on it.
Here's how it looked before the final coats went on.

The light coats went on well with a good 45 min. wait time between coats.
I'm okay with the results.
I also decided to try and reposition the assembly to see if applying paint this way would be better.

Is it perfect??? well... no but it's fine for me.
Besides, with the amount of coats of paint that are on it, it'll be just fine.
I want to enjoy driving this car.

The next thing to go on now are the Air Grabber decals that go onto the sides of the door.
Then install it on the hood.
But, in the meantime I got all of the pieces of the clutch / brake pedal assembly ready to be put together.

Install the roller bearings and felt seals in the clutch pedal housing and install the plastic bushings in the brake pedal housing.
Also, I installed this plastic retainer....it has a rubber bellows type seal on the other side of it, I assume its to keep any water from getting into the back of the master cylinder.

Then put the whole thing in the car.
Oh, and don't forget the rubber pedal attachments too.
