So while the cut & polish was being done, I had time to get the rear seat re-covered.
I bought the hounds tooth rear seat cover from Legendary.

I did paint the frame prior to putting the cover on (no pictures of it tho).

The bottom cover went on not too badly.

A little extra padding was added to keep the cover nice and tight.

I think it turned out great.

Next was the rear seat backrest.
Again I painted the frame but didn't take any pics of it.
This time the backrest portion was more difficult than the bottom.
We put extra padding down and it took 2 of my buddies and myself to stretch the cover over the frame.
But in the end it turned out great.

I had to do some touch-ups in the trunk area.
The painter forgot to paint the underside of the dutchman panel.
You can kinda see it in this picture.

So I had 3 spray cans of white enamel made and shot the enamel.
Here's the before pictures with just primer.

And then today, I put the first coat of blackout paint on the rad support.

Today I was able to get the sound deadener and heat shield inside the doors.

I figure doing it now rather than after the glass is in is a better idea.
Since I was on the theme of heat shielding, I figured might as well install the pieces that go above the headliner.

So, onto the next job which is quarter window install.
Now this would have been easier if I had taken them out myself, but I did not - the body and paint guy did.
He did promise to put them back in, but when I picked up the car they still were not installed.
"Oh, they are easy to install" he says.......yeah right..
The drivers side was the worst, fought me the whole time.

Onto removing the drivers side door glass from the original door.
I figured if the quarter glass was any indication on the difficulty level I was in for a bad time.
Well, I took my time and it wasn't too bad.
First - take some pics of misc. items to know where they go back in place.

Next, pull out the door latch and door handle.
That leaves room to pull the glass and the track.

The track shown here was cleaned up after 50 years of grease was cleaned off of it.
The glass has some scratches in it, but oh well, they will mostly be in the down position in the summertime anyways.

While I had the door latch and other minor pieces soaking in the Evaporust I might as well put some color on the car.
So I installed the side marker lights.

With the door latch cleaned up, it was time to install it.
Good idea to install it before the glass as there is more room.
Here's some pictures of it on the inside of the door. Sorry the pics are rotated.

Now, it's time to install the glass.
First I put the glass inside the door and let it sit on the bottom. Next, carefully install the track and widow crank mechanism along with the positioning tracks. It was tedious but it worked out in the end. Job done!

I did have to install some hardware on the glass before it went back in.
These two mounts (the white ones) were missing.

Luckily I bought a window hardware kit at a Mopar show last year.
Other than that I thought I should paint the screws holding the door latch on.
Here they are being masked getting ready for paint. Sorry, but the picture is rotated again!

Pretty exciting seeing stuff go back on the car. I hope to have my shell in complete paint by late summer so I can start putting stuff back on!

So far, everything is going together okay. Still got lots to do tho.

Looking good. Curious why you're painting the screws that hold the door latch? They were not painted from the factory.

Were they in place when the car got painted?
I put paint on them as I did have them in Evaporust to clean them up.
They went on as bare steel, so I figured that something should go on them.

What finish would they have got from the factory?

no, neither the screws or the latch were on the car when painted...sort of a gray finish. photo of my original paint car.
