At least for now the AMD quarter panels are side by each.
Jan 28 (14).jpg
I can't believe I've had them close to 5 years now.....
Jan 28 (16).jpg
So after getting all of the dust off the car it was nice to see some shiny paint on it (even if it is going to be sanded off)

Anyway, getting back to the inside of the firewall & starting to strip it clean.

So I finally got all of the inner firewall stripped clean.
20170211_140342.jpg
Moving on to drilling the proper holes in the floor for the bucket seats.
20170211_124931.jpg
And also installing the floor braces (kudo's to steved for sending me the dxf file for the braces)I cut the braces from some 304 SS I had laying around.
20170211_125059.jpg
Then welding them on.
20170211_133839.jpg
Now to prep the rest of the floor and get it ready for some epoxy primer.

Does anybody know where to get a new inner firewall insulation kit?

DMT for the firewall insulation or you can go with some other sound dedener

rr6pak - I plan on putting down sound deadener of some kind, I was wondering if you could get the plastic pins that push thru the firewall separately or will I have to purchase an insulation kit and remove the pins from the kit.
Anyway, this past 2 weekends I was able to put down some 2 part epoxy on the inside firewall and floor.
Here's what the first coat looks like. I put it on back on Feb. 19th. It went from this....
Feb 18 (2).jpg
to this......
Feb 18 (4).jpg
From this...
Feb 18 (1).jpg
to this....

Then I left it for a week. This past Saturday I was able to put the second and final coat on.
Here's the result...

I'm really happy with the way it turned out. :D

Now that the floor has two coats of regular primer on top of the two coats of epoxy, it's time to move on to the trunk.
But before that I was able to remove the rear window trim, with no damage to the trim (Thank God :D )
Then the next thing is to remove the trunk lid...
March 12 (2).jpg
Then scrap off all the old trunk weatherstripping. I started looking for the partial VIN stamping on the area where the weatherstripping sits but could not find anything - what gives?
The only info I did find was this..
March 12 (14).jpg
which was in the middle of the trunk on the upper part close to the dutchman panel.
I also found this number in the upper drivers side corner....
March 12 (15).jpg
Anybody know what that number is?
Anyway, on to the trunk floor....here's the drivers side..
March 12 (3).jpg
and here is the passenger side..

Looking a bit closer I see a patch on the passenger side..
March 12 (17).jpg
and remove the screws and crude looking patch.......
March 12 (18).jpg
Yikes!! I see the floor......sheesh.

Moving on I see where the quarter panels were changed - here's the drivers side..
March 12 (8).jpg
you can see the cut line below the side marker opening.

It's the same with the passenger side..
March 12 (7).jpg
Moving on I start to scrap off all the seam sealer and man was there a ton of it! Good thing the stuff is so old as it scraped off pretty easily.

Here's a shot of the inner wheel well area and the trunk floor, where the cavity is full of seam sealer..
March 12 (12).jpg
You know, I'm gonna take a much closer look at these rear quarter panels, they may not be as bad as I originally thought them to be. I'll run a magnet all around first to see if there's steel all around.
Then I'll sand the outside down to bare steel to see how the lower piece was attached to the original one.

The stampings in the trunk area are just parts and pieces part numbers or reference numbers. No partial vins in the trunk area that I am aware of for our 4th gen Plymouth B bodies.

Not 100% sure if the plastic pins are available separately. Why do you want the pins only? You could call Jim at DMT.

Scott - thanks for updating me that there is no partial VIN on 4th gen. RR's.
Continuing on, it was major surgery time and cut out the whole trunk floor and trunk extensions.
I took it out in pieces. Here's the first major cut.
March 18 & 19 (5).jpg
Then either side.....drivers side first....
March 18 & 19 (8).jpg
Then passenger side.
March 18 & 19 (20).jpg
Here's all the rusty pieces..
March 18 & 19 (15).jpg
Here she is with a lightened back end.
March 18 & 19 (19).jpg
Next step is to clean-up the insides of the frame rails and put on some rust bullet before the new pan goes on.

Whew!!! that was quite a lengthy down time for the site - But I'm glad it's back up and running!!!!
I was still busy workin away in the trunk area. Now that the old floor is out I got in and put some rust bullet on the shock cross-member.
March 24 (2).jpg
Next thing to do is to position the gas tank strap holders onto the new trunk pan.
April 23 (9).jpg
Using the old pan as reference I punched holes in the holders and then transferred the hole position to the pan.
April 23 (15).jpg
Then some grinding & plug welding and a coat of primer they are on.

So the next step is to prep the inside of the frame rails before putting the new pan in.
I sanded it as best I could with 40 grit sandpaper and applied Rust Bullet to them.
June 4 (11).jpg
June 4 (19).jpg
The next step I applied the copper weld prep.
June 4 (28).jpg
Then it's on to do a fit-check before final welding.
June 9 (2).jpg
Also I had to make sure I cleared the bumper supports.

I sure hope that it's not sitting on the suspension while you're doing this.
