With alot of grunting and groaning and swearing I might add, the door panels are finally on.
I was surprised that the lower panels gave me more grief than the upper panels.
I figured it was gonna be the other way round.

Got a little more done today.
Even tho its in the high thirties in the garage today I managed to get the rear half of the carpet installed along with the back seat bottom.

Hopefully when the warmer weather arrives it will relax the carpet, so it lays flatter.

So continuing on with the carpet install, I had time to put in the front section.

And start on the underside of the dash frame as it left the factory with no paint. Good thing mine only has surface rust.

Loving it! Still too cold in SD to do anything on my ride. I was just going through some of my registry files, and its kinda funny that the three of us (you, me, and ct71RR) that are posting progress on our cars, all 3 of them are GY8 gold cars. Keep the progress going!
Scott.

I love the sound of that Scott...
But as I get closer to finishing mine I've realized that the rest of the parts I need to finish mine will all be in the $500 and up range.
Dash pad = at least $550 US
Rear glass = $510 CDN
Diaphragm clutch = at least $500 or more CDN
Complete exhaust = at least $500 CDN
Engine break-in = $600 CDN

Is it discouraging??? a little, but I'm not letting that stop me.

So in the meantime I keep going.
On the weekend I was able to borrow a steamer from my work.

So I can put some steam on the carpet to get it to lay flat.

Took a bit of effort....
Feb 27th (5).jpg
Feb 27th (5).jpg (116.14 KiB) Viewed 54956 times
But all in all it turned out just fine.
I trimmed up the edges where the sill plates go too.
I did use some Alien Tape on the 4 spd hump to keep the carpet molded properly.

Looks great! What was giving you trouble with the lower door panels?

ct - the trouble I had with the lower door panels were the clips.
I bought brand new clips from a Mopar guy up here in Ontario.

The issue was when I started on one nd of the door with the installation.....by the time I got to the other end the clips were nowhere near their respective holes that they had to go into....

So I had to remove all of them and start over.

In addition to that, you know what the end of the clip looks like right?
Door clips.jpg
Door clips.jpg (14.91 KiB) Viewed 54923 times
If you don't get the crossed end into the hole completely, it won't stay in place.
A couple of them I had only one of the ends in the hole while the other was beside the hole and when I slammed against the panel and it didn't stay in place, I pried between the door and panel to see the clip bent like a pretzel.

I'm makin it sound worse than it really was....
I guess I learned something because the upper panels went in easier......maybe because I knew what to look for.

The final coat on the topside is flat black followed with a coat of textured suede also by Rustoleum.

Got the steering column apart.
First is to get the main shaft out.

I have a power steering column that came out of the car. I will be taking the mounting plates from it to use on this manual steering column.
