thanks again for the tips... I'm gonna go with the 440 Source kit I think. A quick calculation would see 500 HP pretty easy, and that is def more than enough for me. No doubt I'll need new rubber too. And then some more new rubber. Maybe the trans will snap, maybe not.

Just getting all the measurements done and then it's on a plane to Melbourne! Don't ask about freighting a crank... but while Obama keeps printing money by the tonne, I can keep buying car parts from the US and sleep at night. 400s never came out here so there are no parts!

The FIRM FEEL box is here this week as well. I'll give you an update when that's installed as well.

500 horse should be easy....considering that Mother Dodge grossly underated the horsepower of many of their engines
Sometimes I get to feeling that if Xmas, Fathers Day and my Birthday did not exist, then aftershave too would not exist.

no that is not true. The engines were based on gross horsepower, not net horsepower. My friend's 1966 hemi Satellite gross horsepower rating 4.25 Put the car on a dyno and the net horsepower was 350.

Thats real interesting about your friends 66' Satellite with a Hemi only having 350 horsepower. Lets see...45 year old engine, possibly tired, maybe someones attempt to "build" a hot-rod with a miss-match of parts ? There are to many reliable reports about the power of a stock 426 Hemi being over 500 HP from the factory. NHRA, IHRA, AHRA and NASCAR all knew the true power of the Hemi, or they wouldn't have factored it out of competition! These sanctioning bodies all dyno'ed this motor and came to the conclusion that it had in excess of 500 HP. I think your friend needs a little work on his setup, could be a tired motor, slipping trans (if an auto) or a improperly run or set up Dynometer. I know Mustang Dynos have a reputation for not being accurate. There are just to many reports about the Hemi being over 500 HP in stock form to believe Chrysler didn't understate the numbers. Beside the fact that it is torque that will twist your chassis, not horsepower!
Well, I don't know if your like me, but I know I am!

Its not some tired old hemi, its a 66 satellite 4 speed car with msd ignition, it was on a chassis dyno. stock form  Theres a big difference between a race hemi and a street hemi; a 1965 race hemi has 12 1.1965 K heads are cast in aluminum With a cross ram, it was factoried at 500 hp plus. A 66 street hemi has cast iron head is only 10 1 rated at 4.25 gross hp

Moderators, appologies for the thread hijack! 71440GTX, sorry if you think I'm disparaging your friends Satellite, I'm not. I was only trying to point out that a "chassis dyno" is just that, a "chassis dyno" and you have to take into account many variables. Thank you for confirming that, 1. Your friend's motor is 45 years old, as I stated and 2. it could have been modified ( MSD Ignition) as I also stated. I don't know about the condition of the motor, I still don't. 10,000 miles on a 4spd Hemi car could be pretty brutal. I know of a 70 Hemi that spun the bearings at 1,500 mi. rebuilt and spun again within 2,500 mi. The guy was sucking the pan dry by over reving it. People generally bought these motors to beat on, especially with a 4spd! I think I agree with you on one thing though, Chrysler never rated the Hemi with net HP, so if your friend's Hemi has 350 net HP, I don't know what that has to do with the fact that, as moparmike said, Chrysler Underated the Hemi. As you stated gross and net are different, thats why ALL Mfgs. used gross figures. I stand by my assertion that Chrysler underated the true Horsepower of the Hemi to gain a competetive advantage and NHRA,AHRA,IHRA and NASCAR caught them and re-factored them. :D
