71 GTX Brown interior. Rare? Nice car, Butterscotch too..

I looked at this car today. I was at his house buying some 71 parts. I was itching to look at this one. He said that the brown interior was thought to be rare. I must say that I've never seen one in person that I recall. 'Course I don't really ever do big shows. It REALLY looks good with exterior and options. This sure will make an outstanding car when it's done. How rare is it with the ext color / int combo??? Even the headliner was brown. Oddly enough, he said that it had a black vinyl top.

It's a '71 GTX, that in itself makes it pretty rare. Can't speak to the color combination which may very well make it a 1 of 1...

Heh, I just saw that car listed on ebay. Not sure how rare that color is though. A brown interior on a GTX might be really rare.

As Eric knows, Bahama Yellow is not as rare a color on '71 B-Bodys as it SHOULD be!

Years ago , i was looking for a RR and came across one that was for sale -it was Hemi orange 383 with the brown interior. The guy had painted it orange, it was originally FT6 dark tan metallic or Sienna colored, something like that, with a factory white painted top. Had he not painted it orange i'd have bought it.[didn't want orange car] That car was a column shift.
There's a Charger [also column shift]in a thread on the first page of the D-C.com board right now with that brown interior - it's actually a "swirll" or "woodgrain" vinyl , meaning the brown has like two shades in the vinyl,- at least on the seats- not just one solid color - makes the interior look very upscale i think. If the interior on this butterscotch one were cleaned up better you could probably see what i mean.
Having a factory brown console i bet would be very rare nowadays.

Surprisingly enough, I see more EL5 Bahama Yellow cars with brown interiors than with black, and rarely see brown with any other color. I love EL5, but can't say I like the brown/butterscotch combination.

That had to be one ugly car from the factory!

Eric, I didn't get a pic with the full VIN. I did hold it in my hand for a minute looking at it. If he doesn't mind, and the car is still there when I go back, I'll ask him if it's okay. I don't understand why some folks blur out the sequence number sometimes in pics? What's the risk?

THE TAN INTERIOR COLOR IS A INTERESTING COLOR I HAVE A FY1 GTX WITH A P6T7 AND GT8 LOWER DOOR PANELS. THAT COMBO HAS A NICE COLOR CONTRAST. I DON`T EVER REMEMBER SEEING T7 INTERIOR WITH A BUTTERSCOTCH BODY COLOR . I REALLY LIKE DIFFERENT COLOR INTERIORS BLACK IS NICE BUT YOU CAN`T BEAT SOME OF THE OTHER COLOR COMBOS OUT THERE.
