Best looking after market wheel on a 71 or 72...

... that isn't a Cragar S/S (heavy) or a Torq Thrust (boring).
I'm trying to decide what wheels will grace my next ride. Seriously considering another set of Telstars like I had on the black GTX, or I might wait around for the less expensive Modstar (cast center vs forged) to become available.
I've given some though to the Boss 338s that are becoming really popular, but lacking big aftermarket brakes, I think they'll look cheesy. I certainly haven't ruled out 17 or 18 inch wheels though.
Got to keep it under $250 a pop, preferably way under.

I think the Eliminators would be a bit of an anachronism on a 71/72. They'd look great on the earlier body styles though. I'd like to see a set of 17's in the flesh.
I'd be all over the AR500s if I could afford them. They don't meet my price criteria. $275 for 15" wheels is a bit much. The 17's are in the stratosphere (although not as bad as the Wheel Vintiques BIllet Magnum).

I'm thinking about a set of the ION 625:
Running 17s, w/225-50-17 up front, and 255-50-17 out back.
Also available in grey.
Still leaning towards Telstars though.

I love/hate aluminum wheels. They look great, but maybe its just my bad luck with brands, but EVERY set I've ever had, very soon gets little worm type marks under the clear coat. Even my daily driver ('06 Corolla) didnt last a year before they began to corrode...and no, I didn't drive it in winter.
Magnum 500 replica's for me.

That's my problem. Absolutely love my Cragar S/S's, but so heavy! Mine are all pitted up and the chrome is peeling, but after a couple years now, I still haven't decided on wheels.

Nice to see this discussion thread brought back from the dead.

Gotta chime in on this one... cragar,Cragar, CRagar, CRAgar, CRAGar, CRAGAr,CRAGAR, C R A G A R!!!!!! Save weight with an aluminum driveahaft or leave the spare or put in helium instead of run of the mill air but CRAGAR!!!! But...- if no CRAGAR!!!!, ANYTHING but a torque thrust!!!!!! Rusted steel wheels with spray painted bulls eyes on them but please, please, not another torque thrust-PLEASE! Now I'll come down off of my soap box!!!!
