Retiring

Post by CtownRunner » Thu Apr 29, 2010 9:27 am

Yesterday was my last day as Case Manager for a Surgical Oncology unit and a Trauma SICU at MetroHealth in Cleveland. A Level 1 Trauma hospital with 4 helicopters and 2 jets for Life Flight.
Anyway I'm off until Tues the 4th and have no assignment next week.
Already hired a new guy 2 months ago so he is ready to fly on his own.
I guess I'll do scut work for a few days next week.
Maybe I'll drop my daughter off at High school and roll in to work and leave after lunch.

30 yrs as an RN. Most all of it management of some type.
Assit Unit Manger 82 til 89. They eliminated AUM positon in 89.
Case Manager 96 til present.
Kent State BSN in 80.
Married since 84.
Time to reinvent myself.
Goin to take the summer off, go fishing, play some golf. Work on the house. Leaving my options open for the fall to find a part time job.
Maybe teach clinicals for LPN or RN's.
Maybe substitute in local schools.
Maybe go back to health care or NOT.
No cares or worries.
Life is GOOD!

congrats  that is great , hope whatever you decide to do is something enjoyable and stress free ..

i started my countdown to retirement last janurary 2009 with 12 1/2 years left till i could retire at 55 with a full pension and 34 years service as a UNION CARPENTER . then in june of 2009 they changed the retirement age to 65 !!

i went from loving my job to hating my job in a flash  now i have 22 years left to do this shit .

all i wanted to do was retire and get a job at a local spped shop and learn how to build motors and play with all the cool machines .

Congrats.....

I think I figured it out the other day and decided I might have enough $$ for a cardboard box on a street corner to retire to when I reach the age of 115.
