Road Runner Nest

This has been bugging me ever since I saw the wing cars. I have always wanted a superbird ever since I was a little kid (I still kinda am). Being 19, there is no way in hell I'd have the funds to purchase one. Idk if anyone out there is making or producing the parts to convert a 71' Roadrunner into the Superbird Concept. Mine is an original RM23, and I love the look of a 71' Superbird because it looks so aggressive compared to its 70' sister car. I went to the wing cars website and looked around but they are only selling parts for the actual daytonas and superbirds. Any help and input is greatly appreciated.

Saw this post was on here almost all day,no replies,figured Id leave my thoughts.

I think just making your car a winged car Is pricey in itself.Not close as pricey as having the real deal but,just the regular 70 winged car pieces are expensive.Saw one site the front bumper piece alone was $6,000.....and for that money you could just get another 71 rr to make that winged car craving go away. Unless If you are experienced with fiberglass you could always attempt to make your own kit.Not only would your car be awesome for being a winged car,but it wouldn't be like anyone else's.

Was wondering when someone would actually answer this post with their two cents lol. Thanks for the input. I would really like to make it a wing car but your right about just buying another RR. I paid 7500 for mine so that is a valid point.

A '71 Superbird? Who would do such a sacrilegious thing?!

Back when Gary first built that car, he was selling a kit. It was $30K IIRC......

Well its a thought but until there is more demand I'm sure those kits will be worth stupid money. I've always loved superbirds but the roadrunner will do for now lol.

No matter the demand, the kits will always have a high price as there is a TON (metric crap-ton to be specific) of hours of work to produce the parts. You don't even want to know how many hours it takes to go from zero to ready for paint for just the rear window louvers, let alone everything else.

Gary and Pam do amazing work - no question about it. Not to mention, they are some of my best friends in the hobby. Top quality people without a doubt.

I'm with you on the 71 Superbird though. Of all of the awesome cars that Gary and Pam have built, it's without question my favorite - even though a decent amount of the info behind Jet-X came from my interview with Mr. Herlitz.

Ahem! I own a Road Runner that a previous owner was GOING to make into an orange and black Superbird way back in the 80s... where were you guys then?

I was driving my first 71 runner with a barely streetable built 440 and 4 wheel non-power drum brakes that would almost stop the car, but couldn't hold it stopped at an intersection!
