After the recent passing of my close friend Hank "Stone" Kruse, I bought up a large sum of the parts he had. He drove and raced his 69' Charger RT/SE that had a 440.

So at this point I am still kinda torn on whether to keep roadrunner original or put the numbers 383HP/4speed drivetrain aside and build something for fun and do a factory restoration later down the road in my life. I have an extra four speed so the car is going to remain stick.

Got all of these parts for 300$. I have two options here: Build a 440 capable of 545hp/525lb. or build the original 383.

-Unknown Dual plane intake (has larger runners but was sanded down and polished. No numbers or markings)
-Barry Grant 750 carb (old one, but unused)
-Comp cams XE285HL-10
-Mini Starter
-Complete A body disc brakes
-Torsion bar poly isolators
-Cal custom valve covers
-Rocker assemblies (stock)
-New master cylinder body

I want to make the 440 appear stock (even though it won't sound like it). So show me some pics of your customized or original 383's and 440's and let me know what you think of my choices here. Thanks guys!

Decisions, decisions! If I had the same dilemma, I would slightly enhance the numbers matching engine and put it back in the car. I would then find another car that either is non-matching or missing the drive train altogether, and make it like I want it. I find it hard to muck with a numbers matching car. Just my two cents, and good luck with whatever you decide! Scott.

I guess I'm the only small block guy.
Here's the motor that was in my previous 76 Runner.
My .030 over 360 is going into my 71. It's been determined that the engine colour will be orange.

This is my 340. It was built by Mike Liston. For those not familier with mike google the amziol mopar enguine build off and you will find him. Its been stroked with a eagle rod and crank set up. Mike re ported my edelbkock heads, port matched my M1 intake, roller rockers with a Voodoo cam, TTI headers and a Bigs stage 5 750 carb. It turned 502 HP and 507 Torque. I think I'm going to leave the car stock with maybe a slightly larger cam. I'm tried of customizing. I've been rebuilding my 80' malibu ss because the driveshaft ripped in half. My plan was to get all the customizing out of my system on the chevy so I can give my roadrunner a proper restoration. This thing has everything I want between curious yellow paint, 4 speed, AC, big block 383, and the dictaphone cassette recorder which looks cool mounted on the console. Added plus is it was built June 10, 1971 so it's definately one of the last ones built.

I really want spoilers and louvers but I don't think I could bring myself to drill holes in my stock trunk lid.

PS I plan on driving the living hell out of my car across the country. Only aftermarket thing I may do is a fuel injection kit to allow for better mpg when doing cross country driving.
