Hi,

I used a white LED festoon lamp. Its an array of 6 LED's. The bulb holder in the new assembly takes a festoon style bulb instead of the original type, so you can easily swap over.

Talk to you later!
Jeff

Yep! We've just approved the texturing on the part, but it needs to be applied to the recessed ramp that approaches the lens still. After that, we should be good to go. I'm hoping we're two months out now. I'll have some samples at the nats if anyone's interested in checking them out. I need to pull the only complete assy I have back out of my car though :D

Jeff, (sorry about that  )

That's great. It's really nice to see someone that put so much effort and extra care into getting the details right, get their product out into the real word.

I wish you the best of luck!

Jeff:

I'll be at the Nats and would love to see the map light assembly. I have a couple of them myself so if you need to see them, let me know so I can dig it out and remember to bring it. Let me know where and when to view it if you can bring it.

Hi,

I'll be in the swap meet. I'm not sure which spaces yet though. You can look for the CO plates on the 01 black sport dodge diesel. I'll probably take a couple original map lights too for comparison. Thanks for the offer though!!

FYI... After what's been an adventure, production is RUNNING on these! Last prototypes looked great :) ETA is Thanksgiving. On the downside, the pricing mentioned earlier is not going to be the retail going forward as we will never recoup what this finally ended up costing. I expect the pricing noted earlier to be about 40% off what we'll have to shoot for (we're still debating, but it looks like we're headed towards $130-140 for the lensed version)... Since I mentioned the lower anticipated pricing here earlier, I'll do 5 of each type at the lower price (to members). First come first served on that deal. They'll ship once they arrive. Just PM me if you want one.

Anyway, the texturing was redone to a higher cost beadblast like the originals, and it's NOT present on the areas to the side of the lens as original as well. Right now they'll come with the std incandescent bulb unless we can get a decent bulk deal on the LED bulbs. The screws that are packaged with the assemblies are not fillister heads like the originals. I have a line on the correct looking black #8 fillister head screws in a 5/8" length from another supplier. Originally they're #8 x 3/4" fillister heads... For now the plan is to get the 5/8" before the parts arrive until I can locate the 3/4".

Here's a couple pics of the final prototype of the lensed version!

I have a few LEDs here that we can add. It's a standard festoon style bulb though, so they're not tough to find. I dropped a 6 LED version in the one in our GTX, and that throws some good light!

Btw, I have a pm headed to you, but it appears to want to hang out in my outbox for a while for some reason...

Got my NEW map light assembly just today! I could say many words to discribe it but one right now is WOW! Jeff, you NAILED it with this one, it is just beautiful. I compared it to one of my originals and cant really tell the difference. It looks better in person than what is pictured here. If any of you members need one, better jump on one. Get one with the LED bulp in it.

THANKS, Jeff for a quality product and the service was quick!

I'm biased cuz Jeff is a friend, but if Jeff is making a product you can count on it being NICE. Just the kind of person he is. He's also not the type to drag his feet on getting stuff shipped to you. Can't recommend him highly enough!
