just a reminder on maintenance...

GREASE YOUR U-JOINTS!!! i guess you could call me guilty - i've owned it for almost 7 years now - didn't realize i needed to. anyhow, had a pretty bad vibration, so changed u-joints this weekend - the rear one basically fell apart when i was taking out the driveshaft - upon further inspection, needle bearings were pretty flat, grooving into the caps, and turning blue inside - sweet, huh? and because nobody's serviced them (probably ever), i actually had to dig out the air chisel to get the one of the straps removed from the yoke.

on the plus side, only cost me about $40 for new u-joints, and straps and bolts from NAPA - actually made in the USA  and not just printed on the box with taiwan parts inside like at O'reilly's. should have taken pics

and even better, with no snow or ice, i actually got to go for a pretty good drive today  :D

Great advise. Guess I have something else to do this spring.

Thanks.

Do you have the Napa part # handy?

no, don't remember, i think the u-strap and bolt kit was G318 - receipt is at my dad's. the brand was "precision" i just told em what i needed and they brought it out - $16.99 each + $7.99 i think for the straps and bolts

oh, and in my case anyhow, i needed a needle for the grease gun on the rear U-joint
