Who'd have thought headlights need to be left hand drive? Anyway, I missed the deadline to make the roadworthy test tomorrow. That means I have to reschedule for another ten days time... gives me time to fix a few more things that are not working.

Yesterday I had a lucky escape... I was driving a friend to his wedding, and we could see this big black cloud approaching. It got real dark, real fast to the point where it was pitch black at 2pm. At this point there's no rain... then thwack! I thought someone slapped the side of the car. Then another and another... HAIL! Almost the size of golf balls. I was stuck in bumper to bumper traffic in the Melbourne Business District.

So, you can imagine. I'm thinking my new car is going to look like some Hells Angles worked it over with Ballpeen hammers.... managed to clear some space, did a crazy 180 turn and parked in an undercover carpark for two hours while it blew over. With no radio there was no warning! incredible flood damage as well.

I just installed the '71 marker lights on my '72 last year, and you're right. It's some work. Invest in a cheap flanging tool to make the flanges, and have at least one extra bezel to fit into place while you're applying the finish body filler. I got my flanging tool at Harbor Freight for like $20, and it was well worth the cost. Worst part of it was the tool won't do the corners, so you do the sides, and then have to hammer the turns. Also, the verticle part of the flanges are a curved surface, so you have to flange it, which will want to make that part of the fender flat, then work that flange into a curve. It's gonna take some patience.
