No, I hadn't seen that article. As far as concours resto goes mine would be all WRONG, but I don't care, my car is a DRIVER!

Yeah, I'd like to see it! I'll have to pick up that issue. I know it was kinda strange putting the paint markings on my 4 speed when the rest of the car is NOT restored in that fashion. But it's the numbers trans, and is the only part of the car that had not been touched until now. So it was like archeology when I cleaned it up and found the markings.
I figured the paint markings on it would be lost for good if I didn't replicate them now. The original 383 is long gone, and the car had been "restored" (sort of) when I bought it in '88...

Very cool.
I notice you have an Air Grabber bubble on the wall. I guess thats going to be left off with that hi-rise manifold.
Also, is that what they call the "heat stove" on the left exhaust manifold? First time ive seen one if so.

Nah, it's not a hi-rise, it's the aluminum Eldebrock version of ma Mopar's cast-iron 6-BBL intake. It'll work under that air grabber hood--in fact it was on the 440 that I pulled out of the car before I had this 451 built.
I guess you could say that manifold has the PROVISIONS for a heat stove, but the stove isn't ON that manifold. I've never checked to figure out where these manifolds came from. Could be the ones that were on the car's original 383 or could very well have come from my buddy Herb's parts stash when he built the pulled 440 for the car back in '88. I'm not much into parts numbers... if it runs good and looks good doing it is all I care about.

I got to get the dang thing finished first! Once it's done it's going LOTS of places, including Carlisle again...
