Road Runner Nest

i started the motor compartment resto on my 73 rr , i remover the fender tag and put in a safe place . as i was stripping the paint on the inner fender where the tag goes i noticed antoher set of holes that are for antoher tag . did all the inner fenders get drilled out for two tags ? my car is very low option so i cant see a reason for another tag ?

Thats funny you say that because when i took off my fender tag to primer the front of my car,i had trouble putting the fender tag back on because there were numerous holes in that area,at first i had it in one way but the holes didn't line up.I confused also,theres nothing else i remember that the holes are used for.

i don't have any other holes at all in that area

yes my 71 gtx has two sets of holes for 2 tags

I think it's the plant where it's made that they put the fender tags in different locations. my '71 GTX is built in Windsor and the fender tag was closer to the front, but on my '71 Satellite, built in St. Louis, it was closer to the back

On my 74 St Louis RR the tag is to the front. The screws are on 3-1/8" centers. Using a tape measure, I could not find the same distance between any of the other holes or dimples. The screws were very pointed, making me think they are self-tappers, and wouldn't need a hole. The two hole I do have are from the missing washer tank. There are three dimples in a row and equally spaced. These may be spot welds or locating dimples used for parts alignment during assembly. I work in the body-in-white area for Chrysler, so these are things I see regularly.

the inner feners on 71-72 b-body are not the same as the 73-74 ones

so the sets holes will be not same

Any screw needs a hole.

What i noticed about my fender tag(not sure if its all) is it has a lip that bends up as if its suppose to sit parallel with the metal ridge of my car,but the fender tag is actually rotated when aligned with the correct holes.Ill take pics that way there's some images for reference.Right now I'm recovering from a party.
