Good to GO!

Post by steved » Mon Jul 20, 2009 9:29 pm

Yeah baby!!!

I got the inspection done on the GTX (bill of sale GA car), and I could go tomorrow and get my tag!

I kicked off the resto shop to get the car in the air, and we'll drop the suspension off so we can work on the underside.

I'm so totally stoked right now!

Pics to come.

how it arrived at the shop:

and how it looks currently:

Note that the car was just sand blasted and primed. there's minimal bodywork done to the car at this point. There are some BAD areas (inside the trunk channel, for example) pinestraw was just packed in there.

The car is GY9 Tawny Gold. It had a Gold vinyl top (I need info!!!) and had an ember gold interior...it's super pimp.

It'll be restored with a few minor changes (because it's MY car). I'll probably have the bumpers painted, and I"ll probably end up with 4 wheel disks instead of the drums.

interesting options from the broadcast sheet. it's got the hemi XHD suspension, and HD shock package. *info here would help too!*

I think I'm gonna keep the ranger wheels.

BTW...what's with it cutting off the pics?

More info:

1-71 build date
GY9 gold exterior
GY4 gold vinyl top
P6Y3 gold Interior (if I read the broadcast correctly)

then number between the top color and the car color is V31. what is that?

I only have a copy of a copy of a fax of a broadcast sheet. I have a couple numbers on top that I can call.

On a 71 broadcast sheet there shouldn't be any numbers between the body and top colors. The V numbers to the right of the roof color all start with V2. If the first box has a 1 in it, that would be V21 (hood indent pinstripes).
You might be looking at the numbers between the UDF color (upper door frame) and the body color. That should read V01 for monotone paint.

ok, so help me understand this, because I can't read the headings (perhaps a photograph of someone elses REAL broadcast sheet with the macro ON would help me see/understand the headings, esp. the dark headings), which are completely illegible right now.

the last 1/2 of line two reads.... P6 Y3 GY4 V01 GY9 V1Y 1 blank blank doubleblank.

I did mistakenly read V01 as V31...I'm most curious about the last #1 as the heading above has details to the code...or would that be the hood indent pinstripes.

I've got a million questions, I think...

I think I got the last 1/2 of that line figured out too...
Gold interior, gold UDP, monochrome, Tawny gold car, with full Gold vinyl top, and the hood recess stripes (pinstripes?) (V21)

do the hood stripes match the side stripe (also some kind of tan or light gold)?

That last 1 is V21, the hood intent pinstripes. All the blanks next to it are for V codes.

thanks Eric,

I'm really enjoying the 'treasure hunt'...

now if I could just find that fender tag...(removed from the fender long long ago...)

The W23 wheels were the magnums, right?

Hello Steve, Have you checked out the thread that has the production figures. It is under the techenical archives , I printed it off when I first got my car and found it answered many of my questions. Good Luck on your car. Douglas from Douglasville

those helped a bunch. hamtramck historical has been a huge help too.

I might splurge for the 17" repops of the magnums. the plan with the car is to make it mostly original, but mine. a few things will be changed (painted bumpers, and 4 wheel discs, 17" wheels...etc) nothing that would not be reversible. I'm certainly not going to cut it. It's too solid to do that.
