Nesters in Georgia. .

My wife looks to be transferring to Georgia after 13 years in Ohio. Her company, NCR, is relocating to Duluth and it looks as though we'll be there by the end of 2010.

I'm hoping my Serious Satellite won't be out of place with all those rust free southern boys and toys, but what the hell I'm looking forward to it.

So, anybody from Georgia on the Nest?

I am in Douglasville, 25 miles west of Atlanta.
She will be working about 25 miles north east of Atlanta.
If you like the lake you can look around Lake Lanier for a place to live.
We will be happy to welcome yawl to Georgia.
I needed to add you will be within 15 or 20 miles from Year One.

I'm actually looking forward to the move. Lake Lanier, nice. I grew up in a town that had three lakes in the city limits and over a hundred lakes in the county, so yeah, I'm Lake Trash.

Wow! Any recommendations on what Condo's and/or apartments that come highly recommended?

I'll have to give you a buzz when we get moved in down there. . .the Serious Satty (read, Plymouth Frankenstein Satellite) will be done! (although, every time I think I'm ready for paint, I find another damn area that needs to be sanded down, primered, body glazed, etc. Damn obsessive personality).

Meanwhile, I did finally get the rear bumper and bumper brackets off and surprise . ...  the sheet metal beneath that stuff was pristine. . .this car is strange. ..clean as a whistle on the drivers side and down the middle, but that passenger's side. ..geesh).

i wouldn't recommend a condo or apartment. they DO NOT like old cars in there. i tried a couple different ones and kept getting harrased so i said screw it and bought a house. there is a ton of houses around here for rent in just about any price range. if you want a specific area let me know and i will do some looking around for you.

That's weird. . isn't this america, and isn't that Georgia? The land of the Rebel Yell, Atlanta Rhythm Section (one of my favorite bands of all time), and individual freedoms?

How could they do that legally?

people are a-holes, plain and simple...i get crap for having my car at the apartment complex, too. too loud, doesn't move enough for them, etc. luckily, i've gotten along with the maintenance guys we get every couple years or so, so i don't get "nuissance" stickers on my windows anymore

Lawrenceville, Checking in. '71 GTX at the resto shop...we'll meet some of you guys, then have a couple garage days to build the 440 and put her back together.

I highly recommend getting a feel for traffic, then living in the most ideal place for a good commute.

What do you do? (Or are you a Mr. Mom?)

You can get lots of house for the money down in GA.

I'm retired, a bit early, but multiple sclerosis had bigger plans. Which is a concern, the Georgian heat and the disease. You're supposed to move to cooler climates, but what the hell. That's what they invented a.c. for. LOL.

We have a lot of listings in Lawrenceville. Now if I can get the satty back together before the next spring!

I used to be a soldier, 67V2F, and left to get my degree in secondary ed. Now, I'm a House husband who wobbles a lot. :bump: and bumps into things. . .

there's actually a couple places in my neighborhood...

skip the homeowners associations! Buy something 20 years old or older...newer construction can get sketchy.

there is a 3 bedroom 2 bath ranch on a 3/4 acre lot for $32,000 with an inground pool. it needs a little work though. there is a 4 bed 2 bath next door that has been completely remodeled for $55,000. both are on my street.
