I figured I'd post a few pics just because. The car had it's original carpet and it was shot so I pulled it and was very happy to find zero rust.
So far I have two identical build sheets for this car, I wonder how many more I may find. I bought this engine and tranny off craigslist for $850.00. I was told they had 5k miles, I put new gaskets on and I would say the seller was honest. The engine bay was painted black so I used a rattle can to paint it brown, I don't like working in a dark, gloomy engine bay. I will enjoy the car this summer and when fall comes it will be time for the tear down. The plan at this time is restored as a Satellite...restomod would be a better term. I will remove the vynil top and A/C and add a 500 cid 6 pack with strange 60 and hemi springs.
This car should make a real sleeper. Hmm...maybe I should keep the top......

The tips were muffler shop tips and are gone now. Let me ponder the top and I'll let you know.

Figured I'd post an update since it's been a while. I fired the engine today for the 1st time and it sounds great. I fired right off which, taking me into account could be considered shocking

It's all back together so here is a clip of the car running, I am in that not-exciting stage of a project car, rounding up parts, scrounging for money and scraping off undercoating. I have found that an electric heat gun work well as it does not overheat but get the stuff soft enough to get off with a plastic scraper.

Nice project! I love to buy them like that with low to no rust, it is nice not to have to worry about the Chinese metal on your car

BTW- if you have a well ventilated area, a propane torch makes undercoating removal a real breeze along with a scraper

I'll have to try that, I wonder how much weight I'll take off when I'm done? The stuff is heavy for sure, I guess I could save it all then put it on a scale when done. I bought the car from California and a rust free body is worth every cent it cost to ship.

when I did my undercoat, I had a 5 gallon bucket full, it was HEAVY...less than 100 lbs, but it was heavy...

to remove the undercoating i used a good heat gun, a putty knife, and a case of beer. the beer helps with the pain of molten undercoating landing on you. I saved the stuff i scraped off, it weighed almost 50#! we have the same color car, T8, i think. mine has the canopy vinyl top, the same 'padded' rear and front bumper, and way more rust
