Project Blue Bird - Journal Updates

Post by Dave » Fri Sep 03, 2004 8:26 am

Hey all!

Just gotta point out that I posted a bunch of project journal updates last night. Ending with probably the most exciting update so far. ;)

Black reflective strobe stripe. Interior wise, here are the seat covers:

I have both lower valances at home now, since they are all done, and won't go back on the car until the motor is in. I set one of the seats next to them, and the color match of the B5 inserts to the painted panels is perfect. A dead on match. :)

I can't wait to see the old girl put together with the A/G stuff, black strobe stripe, black spoiler (since she is an original spoiler package car), with the chrome of the bumpers and WOMs The car is REALLY going to be impressive. :D

Wow ....that will be one cool car. Love the two tone blue buckets.
Legendary Interiors custom make those for you?
I fully expect to see your car in a Mopar magazine soon!
Your hard work is making your dream come true ....congrats!

Those aren't 2 tone blue, that's black with B5 inserts. I know it's not the greatest picture. Yea, they were made up custom by Legendary, though it wasn't a huge deal since the B5 is an original interior color, it was as simple as having them use the different color material for the inserts (just like the 71 black and orange M6XV interiors). They still got me a little bit extra for the "custom" fee, but not as much as if I was looking to do some non-stock color.

I won't lie. I really want to see this car get some press when it's all done. It's not my main goal, but I can't say I won't be disappointed if it doesn't make MCG (by far my favorite Mopar mag). Like you said though, my main goal here is to finally fulfill my dream. :)

Dave ....sorry that's what I ment by two-tone seat (like the 1971 orange/black buckets). Black and blue inserts will look awesome.
There was a 1971 RR on Texas Toy box for sale with white buckets with orange inserts ...I've never seen that done before either...cool.

Are you planning on a full vinyl or canopy vinyl top like the factory would have done with a sunroof car or leaving it all body color paint ...why cover up all the good body work. That sunroof looks great.

Yes, I too think MCG is the best Mopar Magazine, your car should be in there soon. It's been awhile since they had a 71-72 RR in their pages.
I say hello to Robert Wolf (editor) every year the the Belivdere, Illinois show. They photograph lots of cars there every year to put in their magazine. They also shoot at Nationals (your neck of the woods) and Carlisle.
Anyway ,,,,you have an absoluty stunning car! Definately worth the wait!
