Hi all!

Great site, I have been a fan of the 71-74 B-bodies since I bought my first car, a B7 71' RR for $165.00 in about 1985. The VIN was RM23N1R112547 (still remember it). At one time I had a registry for the 71-72 cars but because of no interest I let it go. The original owner of my car was a guy named Homer Bundy...always cracked me up.

A few friends also had 71's including one 440+6 and a Hemi GTX, a car I really remember is a 71 RR 440+6, 4-speed that a guy close to me ordered new, he gave the dealer the instructions; I want the 15x7 rally road wheels and those exhaust tips...delete everything else you can.

Anyone else ever seen a car with a rubber mat in place of the carpet?

Anyway, my current car is a 72 Satellite that I bought from California, it's a 318 from the factory but a 383 will be in it soon. If anyone collects date from these cars drop me a line and I'll send the vin and fender tag info from the RR mentioned above and this Sat.

Welcome to the site, Thack. Eric, who is a member/moderator here, collects the vin #s. Hopefully he'll see this thread and or drop you a line. :)

Welcome to the Nest Thack. That 72 looks like a good project!
I do collect VIN, fender tag, broadcast sheet , and history for 71 and 72 cars. You have a PM.

Welcome! Yep, we've heard of Satellites with rubber mats instead of carpet. Just guessing, but the rear side windows don't roll down on your car either, do they?

My 72 satellite is a bare bones car with only the light package and slant six being ordered on it. It has rubber flooring and fixed rear quarter glass.

I will add some picters to the following post of my rubber flooring.

I owned a 73 Satty base model with bench, column shifter, and black rubber floot mat in lieu of carpeting. It was actually easier to clean the floor that way. Beer cans spill, even when they've been drained.

Yes, I see you own the unicorn, sharp car  When I asked about the rubber mat I was refering to the plain RR I mentioned...just making sure my memory was correct on that one.

I live in Indy and bought this car on ebay, it was advertised as very rust free so I took the chance on a California car. It is absolutly rust free so after a few summers of enjoyment I'll give it the attention it deserves and restore it to orginal with the exception of a 360 magnum.

Here is the only picture I have from the 71 RR, this is a 68 383 with closed chamber heads.
