charger side glass louvers

Post by fourforty6pac » Thu Feb 26, 2009 7:59 pm

I saw these on ebay. These were discussed here before. I think they could be made to fit since they come with the panels from the charger. I think they look better on the 73 and 74's then on the 71 and 72's.

i tried figuring it out before...would definitely fit easier on a 73-4...i would say, if you can get a set cheap, try it out and see what happens..sometimes they go for 20, other times much more

i would say they should get a skim coat of bondo, or sand them down smooth to blend in more with paint, rather than vinyl like on the charger se's

I had a fellow mopararist over today and we talked about these. He said they would most likely fit but the tips would cover the decals. So If i do find a pair id have to shorten them.

It would not bee too hard to do as long as you have the inserts. You can always fabricate something to fit your application, these look pretty close to the 73 and 4 roof. If you have some skills or know someone that does, this is very doable, with or without a vinyl top.

Eh.Not exactly what I pictured ha ha,looked good in my head :o .I wonder why they call them louvered windows when its really not louvered, just small windows.

I was thinking of making them like these windows on the 76-78 rr's.

So standing on the side of the car you would not be able to see through them, but if you moved towards the back you could, like vertical blinds. That way there wouldn't really be a blind spot either.Sort of mustangy.

Using the charger windows it wouldn't be too difficult just to make pieces to give it that effect.Or just do away with the charger window idea all together and make my own fiberglass parts to cover my quarter windows. 8) hmmmm.

All the charger were made the same. if it was going to be an se, they installed the insert and the louvers. Kind of like the rear glass insert on a challenger RT/SE or cuda gran coupe. They all had vinyl tops to hide the seams. I had a triple black 72 rallye charger that I was contemplating doing this to, but I didn't want to booger up a number matching big block 4 speed. If you really wanted to do it a cool way you could leave the roll down glass in instead of the stationary glass. This can be done,Smellslike, just replace the stickers, I don't know if they are available or not. If you want this done bring it to me, I'll do it for you. Oh, bring that 72 400 you have and I'll cut you a deal.

My brother has louvers on his Charger, and it looks great on his car. But after seeing that photo above, they aren't for Satellite's/RR/GTX's, that for sure
