71 Roadrunner restoration

Post by anthony » Wed Feb 25, 2009 5:27 pm

well to get started, as i said i sent my car to a garage and get it started i took photos for every week, because i go there twice a week to work on my car, im paying half the price. i was ready to sandblast the whole car but the guy charged 8000 for me to do a full restoration, take out the gas tank , and everythign under neath, there is some patched up wholes under the car, nothing serious. so here on photos of what goign on for the past 5 weeks..i want the car done in a matter of 2-3 months.

all the peices as the hood, fenders, hindges, trunk lid, and all other accesories are going to be sandblasted, the reason why im not sandblasting the whole entire body is because the price was cut down to 4000 but to save the work under the car and the rest of the body, im just goign to grind everythign and weld all the peices that need to be welded, then patch up the quaters and putty it, and then wait till 2 years pass until i get new quaters and redo every thing under the car and ya, basically just do the other half,,, because this way im going to be able to take it out in june when i get my liscence..

A. They look familiar, but my memory fails me too often.
B. grill brackets
C. fender supports
D. ?
E. fender mounting brackets. They go towards the rear of the fender on the top. If you look at your fender you will see how they should fit. There are 4 of them, put 2 of them together on each side. the other 2 are a little different they are right next to them in the pics.
I have detailed pics. somewhere, I'll see if I can find them.

Got a shop manual or parts book? If not, get them... they'll do wonders for you. The car is looking really good!

I understand that.I just don't understand why the guy can't tell you where these parts go.He should know, especially since he agreed to do full restoration.Good luck with your car. Can't wait to see It when It's done.
