My first mopar 1971 roadrunner "sunroof"

Post by scotty82g » Fri Feb 20, 2009 10:15 am

I have always been a gm guy a few years ago i got to drive a friends charger and from then on i cant get the damn mopars outta my head. i really love the style of the 70s roadrunners so i set out to get one i found my 1971 roadrunner in upstate ny where a friend of mine had it and i never even knew it. one day we were talking about my pontiac ventura and how i wanted to get rid of it and he said i got a car youd like and took me up to a field where the car was just pulled out to make room in his barn.I asked if he would take 2500 for it he said it was probaly worth more but he would sell it to me on the conditions that some day he could drive it again and if i ever sold it he had first dibs how could i not agree with that. so im trying to get some info on the car it is a real 1971 roadrunner was a yellow color now purple full vynil top and a sunroof original engine was a 383 but he gave me a 440 also it has a bench seat and it is a column shifted car i would love any info i can get. like i said i was a gm guy and i really dont know a whole lot about mopars thanks for any help email me if ya want scotty82g@yahoo.com these are some pics http://s673.photobucket.com/albums/vv99 ... 0_0458.jpg

Welcome, Scott. Need the fender tag numbers and/or the broadcast sheet. We can go from there. Many members here will be glad to help. 8)

welcome Scott, I agree, that broadcast sheet is not for your car. Does it have a fender tag? If so, post the picture and we can decode it for you.

Hi Scott, your RR sounds like a nice car and with a sunroof to boot..... where is that fender tag?

Am I the only one that noticed the B5 interior, are you sure this was a Yellow car?

I just went back and looked at the picture again and I am sure the hood decal says 440.

Any other pictures?
Is the dash vin or door vin still on the car?

No way to tell from just the VIN what options the car came with. Looks like it was originally butterscotch....a very cool color IMHO (but I'm a little biased....see the second car in my sig)

So it's an EL5 Bahama Yellow (butterscotch) car with V1X full vinyl top, M2X9 standard black vinyl bench interior, and column automatic. Other options: H41 strato vent, A01 light group and A04 basic group, B11 4 wheel drum brakes, G33 left chrome racing mirror, S77 power steering, R11 AM radio.
I've probably missed something. A readible photo of the broadcast sheet would help.

Ok here are a few more for you from your broadcast sheet:
wheel code 52 - 14" Rallye wheels with (code 24) trim rings
axle code (D)53 - 8 3/4" 3.23 open rear end
L31 - hood/fender mounted turn signals (hood mounted in your case)
M75 - rear bumper tape treatment (blackout) - odd, this is usually part of the A87 package, but appears to have been ordered separately on this car
T86 - F70x14 WSW tires
Y13 - dealer demo car

It contains a lot more information, but those are the option highlights.
