71 model stripe question

A friend of mine traveled a couple of hours from our area to pick up some import parts from a fellow. In conversation, the fellow mentioned that he has a 71 RR. He went on a bit about how it was rare and desirable.
I emailed him just for the heck of it to see if he had any cool pics and get some details. I'm always curious. He emailed me back. He didn't give many details. He did state that it is blue with a yellow stripe and 6,400 miles on the clock.
Would a blue car come with a yellow stripe??
Anyway, he said he'd send a pic later. Hope to see that. The miles sure sound awful low. Maybe 64K.
Thoughts on the stripe?????

Was he talking about the over-the-roof stripe for Road Runners, or a pin stripe? There wasn't a YELLOW over-the-roof stripe available in '71, so that wouldn't have been possible on ANY color car. A GOLD over-the-roof stripe was available.
Or was he talking about a pin stripe? I don't know if a yellow pin stripe was available from the factory, but I don't think RRs typically got pin stripes anyway. Of course, it's possible a pin stripe could be added at the dealer, and then I suppose anything could be possible.

Yellow on blue? I know they did some crazy stuff back in the day but I can't imagine that. Like to see the pictures

I may have to call the guy....I assumed he meant a strobe stripe...

It's probably a gold stripe. Anyway, I want to see some pics. If it only has 6,400 miles ( I doubt it, 106,400 yes) it would be worth a small fortune.

If it is an original blue car with a gold strobe, that would be the first one I've seen. So far, the only colors I've found with the gold strobe are TX9 (black), GW3 (white), GY8 (gold), and GY9 (tawny gold). See if you can get a photo of the fender tag and/or broadcast sheet.
That would have been the only stripe available on a 71 runner.

I hoped he'd emailed me back by now. No such luck. I will invite him to the boards. If he doesn't email me back by tomorrow, I'm going to call him. It sounds like a cool car if it's for real.
