i
I have always wondered if my 71 i drove in high school managed to survive through the years.I kept it alive but was not the same factory original 34000 mile car that i bought in 1977. It pains me too much to give the details of certain things that changed the car plus i do not want any hate mail. Please remember if your my age you know there was no talk of "fender tag' or "matching numbers" back then.If you needed a 440 motor you just looked in paper and found one for 75 to 150 bucks.I bought a 70 rr for my brothers sixteenth birthday from a guy at school for 150 bucks to cover his traffic court cost, all it needed was a tranny (auto) so i bought a orange 71 440 car for around 200 minus its motor for its tranny and walla i had a nice 70 rr for my brother and parts for mine when needed.I was not popular with some of my neighbors, they did not consider a black 70 dodge challenger with a smashed front end as lawn decor, It really did stand out in the snow.I remember it well because i got a ticket on that one. I can not find any papers to reveal the vin numbers or even any good pics.but maybe the guy that i sold it to happens to come across this site . So here goes . Dateline 1981-82? kansas city missuori north of river. You bought my car after seeing sitting at my girlfriends house. You were driving a orange 71 rr with a black stripes. You really liked the front disk brakes on my car. I told you that the motor in car was a 440 out of a 69 rr and the original was in my garage but you did not want it,We made a deal you came back a couple days later, pulled out a rope and crawled under my car and i asked what you were doing. You said i gonna tow it home.I told you my car my car is all power and a tank to turn when not running and i was afraid you could not stop it. i dont remember why you did not drive it . might have been something funky going on with the fusible link. any how your girlfriend drove your car with you in tow while you yelled at her out the window and away you went, with my car, my memories, the good ,the bad and the uglies. You did not get the factory tuff steering wheel though, i gave that to a neighbors kid to put on his go kart.you had to manhandle that mopar home with chrome 12 inch wheel.Bet y you can't forget that!
