New ride and new member

Post by N96RR1972 » Mon Jul 28, 2008 8:58 pm

Hello I am a new member as of today and looking to find out a little more about my new Roadrunner (as of yesterday). I do not know a lot about B-Body cars and am looking to find out if anyone knows how many 1972 RR's were built with the 340 cid and 4-speeds that also got the N96 air grabber option. I will try to post a few pics of my car here, I do want to make this car as close to original as I can. I do know that it should not have the spoilers, But they look good...BUT I would love to trade my rear spoiler for the wing type if anyone would like to trade as well....Any way's Thanks and I welcome your comments.

looks like you got a nice car. i don't believe there is a way of knowing how many 340 4 speed air grabber cars were made, but you can get an idea, as there will be a number of 340 cars built (maybe even with what trans), a number of how many 4 speed cars were built, and then how many air grabber cars were built...that could give you a pretty accurate estimate on how many were made.

as far as spoilers go - what wing are you talking about. that appears to be a 71 go wing

Thanks for your reply...I have been told that in 1972, there were few N96 cars built But I do not know as of yet..I am in hope to get an idea from here....The rear spoiler is the 1970 type and I would like to put the 1971 "wing" Type on it. does anyone have one for sale? I have a few extra 71 and 72 parts I am willing to trade as well

DANG!

You've found my (next) dream car: FE5 72 340 4 spd.

Seriously... I came VERY close to buying one almost exactly like this earlier this year. I've got my eye on another. Haven't seen this one before though.

Looks like a Ziebarted car. Got the little yellow plugs where they pumped in rust-proofing. Fortunately it looks as if it didn't get hosed down too bad.

Where did you find it?

No spoilers for '72, so they are an add-on.

Jim I was at a swap meet in New Hampshire yesterday and this car drove in...The owner had it over 15 years and really did not know a whole lot about it (nor do I ) and he had several cars he did not use and this was one of them, I saw the car and wanted it, so I bought it...It has not ever been advertised for sale as he bought it off the original owner...Yes the car has dealer undercoating and the yellow plugs are still there. All the jamb and under hood and inside the trunk are original paint and they all look great, But they show the yellow plugs....the other cars you were looking at, were they air grabber cars?

Awesome looking car.

Have you looked around to see if it has the broadcast sheet anywhere? Under the backseat is the 1st spot to look.

Nope they were not all built there.

My GTX was built in Windsor as well and my broadcast sheet was under the rear seat until I misplaced it.

According to Alaskan_TA's site:

Here are some places to look:

* Taped to the back side / top of the glove box insert.
* Under the front bucket seats in the springs
* Inside the bucket seat backs
* Under the rear seat bottom
* In the rear seat back.
* Under the package tray(speaker shelf)
* Under the carpet

I don't know if it applies to all factories but sometimes it doesnt hurt to check.

This is the one I almost bought...

I started life with a white interior, but got changed somewhere along the way. Otherwise it's darn near identical to yours. FE5 340 4-spd N96. Now has a Six Barrel on it.

I know the current owner (who outbid me by less than $100  ).

PM me your contact info and I can hook you up with him if you'd like to compare notes.

Meanwhile, I know of another that is available, but I've GOT to get rid of the GTX first. Any takers?
