How to make the front of your '73-'74 look meaner

First the non-OEM metal spoiler, now this. Pretty cool that people are actually making things for the 73-74s. Now remind me to paint my car all black with black reflective stripes and black steelies (aka "murdered out").

Ripping off velcro takes long? Maybe it'll give you something to do while you're warming up your engine or something.
I dunno, I just think it looks bad-ass on a black car. In fact, I think I'd find a way to do something like this that is permanent where light can shine through. Besides, my headlamp bezels are rough and NOS ones are so expensive, I'd be scared to drive it.
I think I wanna do this. I doubt they would look good Mint Green though (color of my car).

yeah i think if they made something you wouldnt have to take off it would be a solid idea,i mean velcro is no problem when they are on,but when you take them off,you have the other half of the velcro on your car wich will look really bad to someone who doesnt know your setup,
But yeah if they had blacked out covers that penatratable with headlights it would be awesome, especially at night, you just drive up,someone would see completely black and bam, smooth glowing headlights appear from the darkness.
than you here
"Oh my god!!!!"

this is what we did on my friend's iroc....made em out of plexi-glass, or something similar (get stuff you can see through, though, not all cloudy. then order some "Niteshades" from Summitt (only place i know where to get it). you spray it on the plexiglass after it's cut to look just like the AVS headlight covers on newer cars. do it lightly, though or your lights will be pointless.
on a mint green car, if your grille was black it may still look alright...there's a photoshop project for ya

i may still do the velcro attachment, though...as they may still be too dark if you do drive at night..my lights aren't all that great (they're decent i suppose, but nothing near as good as a new car......so i put driving lights on the front, utilizing the same bolt holes that hold the valance to the bumper "a la Cuda"...dunno how you'd do it on a 73 or 4

I actually did do a Paintbrush (free Mac photo editor) (aka "Photochop") job of blacking out my headlamps. The difference is, though, is that he has his underlying OEM headlamp bezels and all surrounding chrome trim including his bumper painted black, whereas mine looks a little busy with Mint Green paint, blacked out headlamp covers, but then chrome highlights poking out everywhere. My grille is painted black already, but I'm torn about whether to "black out" all front-end chrome (headlamp bezels, chrome trim around the grille, bumpers, etc.) Looks like I have even more "photochopping" to do. I might also do Mint Green headlamp covers just for fun, although I don't think that's what I want.

Hmm, I think I'm going to experiment with this. I think plexiglass drilled for bolt holes which will line up exactly with how the stock bezels line up), and then inserted with those rubber donut washers that surround the heads of screws (although I may need longer screws), and sprayed with the VHT Nitesades spray (never knew about that stuff - cool!) would work! Of course, I may need to round out and polish the corners of the plexiglass, but we'll see... Sounds like a fun project.

I can't see why a good automotive glass shop couldn't make these out of glass. . .
it does look cool though, I like the look a lot. . .

That makes a good point. These look awesome on a blacked out car,but a car like yours you mentioned,im not sure if these covers would look right.

I like them, 73 and 74's need all the help they can get in the grill area. I think I may order a set for my 73, with those and the hideous bumper guards off they look ok from the front IMO.

About that velcro, you could actually make some little thin brackets that tuck behind the bezel, then curve around the front, and just apply the velcro to that. Then the velcro wouldn't be on the bezel at all. There would end up being a gap between the fender and the bezel but it would be pretty small I think.
