My Dremel made short work of those ugly strips! Now I just need to seal the holes until I get the car in for body & paint.
Other side...

What stripes were on your car before?

Those stupid door ding guards that were so popular to have riveted onto your otherwise beautiful car back in the 70's and 80's!

them are fighting words!! LOL....I have those, mine were put on at the dealership when the car was purchased in 71. I'll ditch mine when I finally get the chance to have it painted. I'll say one thing though, my doors and the area's on the fender and quarters are perfect

, not as much as a tiny ding. Yours looks great without them, but I'm sure they served your car well over the years. How long did it take to get them off? Again, looks nice without them, not broken up

It only took me about 20-25 minutes all told. I guessed the right bit size almost exactly and just drilled the little pops right out.
I'd only recommend doing it if/when someone is about ready to paint, as you're going to have unsightly holes that, while small, if left unfilled will promote rust in the doors and panels.
I don't think the car was HIDEOUS with them on there, but I like the cleaner look. I'm probably going to dispose with the rocker panel chrome strip, too.

Good Job!!! I'm glad you drilled them out. I had a friend with a 1973 Charger with those same moldings, he took them off but instead of drilling them out he just pryed them off. The result was a wave in the metal at every spot they were attached. So all the years of saving the car from door dings was destroyed in 10 minutes. I could have killed him.

Yeah, my friend made sure to advise me to drill them, not pull them.
