Almost done with the interior (well, except for the dash and headliner *cough*)...

Can't see the so-so job I did with the vinyl repairs on top, but it looks a lot better than before the recoloring!

Yeah, my friend did that while I was repairing and dyeing the rear seats. It's your basic fiber board that we had to tape together because the scrap piece we got (for free - there's a story in itself) was a bit too short.

He used spray adhesive and some black vinyl he had with the insulation glued to the bottom. It's a rather nice custom job! Now if only the rear window interior trim and headliner looked to match. :D

I live in Sacramento. Billzilla lives in the SF Bay Area. We took those pictures in an area between Davis and Woodland. Many people don't realize that most of California is farm land, they only think of SF and LA.

I've been to CA, my brother lives in San Fran.....my wife and I are headed there late this summer for 7-10 days. Last time we drove from San Fran to Redding, about a 4+ hour drive, I was able to see that part of CA. We will be renting a car and driving around again, this time checknig out Sacramento and some area's south. I really liked it out there...we hiked up Mt Lassen and crawled through the underground lava tubes in northern CA. Saw the Sun Dial bridge too, cool sight.

I had assumed the rear seats were original for this '71 but maybe they weren't. They had some tears on the top so I used one of those crappy home vinyl repair kits. I knew better - the results sucked. Next time I'll use a hobby iron (the kind they use to do r/c airplane coverings) and better goop.

The fronts came from what I was told was a '72 Charger, but I'm not sure. I've seen them in pics of '72 Satellites and Runners. I need to do a little dye touchup on those and some vinyl repair on the driver's seat where the seam on the edge is coming undone.

I was at Mt. Lassen last when I was a really little kid, back when '71 and '72 cars were relatively new - around the mid 70's. I think I remember going through the lava tubes. I dunno if this fat 40 year old version of me would be so interested in that, though. :?

These pics were taken on the back roads of Woodland/Davis, near Sacramento. Actually, off Road 29 behind a bike bar. And had we been burning rubber, we might've had mug shots to go with them - because that sheriff was definitely scoping us - lol.

Yup, that back seat is correct for a 71, coded for H2X9 (X9 designates black, and H2 is highline bench).

Thanks again - well, those are the same seats I pictured before, just dyed black... It's an H2Y8 interior as per my fender tag.

I'll post a before/after pic in a bit.

same setup i have for now...71 deluxe rear with 71 or 2 charger fronts....i like the look of the back, so i thought of doing a 70 RR type bucket, cuz it kinda matches well.....or i could just get em sewn up at an upholstery shop maybe......
