74 GTX

Post by aerodynamic » Fri Feb 29, 2008 10:58 am

Here's a new EBAY car. I note a bit of sarcasm in his description, I don't get the sense he likes Mopars. Must be a Chevy guy, Ford guys (while misguided) are usually more civil. In any case, I dunno where he got production figures from but not sure they're correct? And I HATE the wheels.

I LIKE cop car wheels, but those need to be painted to match the BODY and not the stripe! They'd be far less obnoxious that way.

Self-proclaimed Mopar Gods? I don't know whether or not he doesn't like Mopars, but evidently he's had some "bad experience" with someone who's a)more knowlegeable about these cars than he is or b)who just THINKS his s*** don't stink... there are plenty of both types of people around cars of EVERY make.

Can't comment about whether 69 is accurate as a production number for 440 GTX Road Runners in '74. Finally, what the heck does Reagan have to do with it?

"You won't find this 74 MOPAR in the NADA pricing manuel because it aint there....There were only around 69 1974 GTX Roadrunners of this type built. "

So if your car isnt in the nada guide, not alot were built? Is that an accurate assumption?

I just left him a message correcting his obviously faulty history regarding 1974's president. I already don't like him so I don't mind needling him a bit.

Then you gotta wonder if he'll gain a healthy dislike for "self-proclaimed history Gods"?

Good - you saved me the trouble. I can't stand ignorant dolts. I was around in 1974 and Reagan sure as hell wasn't president.

And the BS about emissions... As if the very 440 BLOCK from 1974 is incapable of 375hp?

And he calls the car "AWESOME EXCELLENT PERFECT LIKE NEW SHOWROOM MINT Condition" (lingo even a plaid-suited used car salesman would cringe at) and then goes on to say it has a non-matching motor. Funny, I don't recall 1974 cars sitting 'in showrooms' with 1968 motors that didn't have matching numbers or wheels that were painted wrong.

Well, here's his angry response, as he freely does business in freedom, and in the greatest country in the world. Warning, some sailor talk (lol):

Did not say he was president. Actually he was Govenor of California in 74 when he started all the California emmissions bullshit. A car could not be manufactured or imported into the US with being able to pass California emmissions standards. This is why 74 440 was reduced to 275hp and other muscle legends went to shit also.
In 81 this idiot became president ...stepped out on stage and with an excessive amount of pink makeup on his face an told the nation that we would run entirely out of fuel in a few short years...but never fear! I will save us..Rationed fuel, froze all American pay raises for a full year and slowed America down to a crawl with a rediculous 55 mph nationwide cap of 55mph that took 20 years and billions of american dollars to undo. At this time the US had 300 million barrels of oil stored underground. I just hope the poeple learned something about allowing their Golden Age silver screen fantasy fictional heros to run their country. I buy, sell and ship a great number of cars around the nation consistently. Reducing the max speed limit to 55mph reduces my daily production 20%. The majority of americans that are naive enough to believe that they are living in a democrascy don't even realize that these things are affecting them and their best interest, and for that they suffer the most. Whether you are an individual, a government, a coorporation or whatever, the same proven theories apply in determining failure to success ratio. If you step in shit. you can either stop and say"oh, I stepped in shit" and calmly wipe your shoe on the grass and carefully step around the shit and move forward with the additional knowledge of knowing where the shit was and avoiding next time OR you can step in shit, get all pissed off, jump up and down without logic , become confused and waller around and get shit all over you. When I look at the condition of this country today along with a 20 year snapshot of government to date..I see a lot of shit.....But thats just me....

Let it go??? No way. Let us prey. I think he has a need to be informed. I can't wait to see what this car will go for. I'll bet it wont sell, something tells me the reserve is high on this one.
