It's interesting, I've seen quite a few 72 /6 cars, and they've all been fixed quarter window cars with the RL21 VIN. I've yet to find an RL21 71 car though. Despite factory literature, it seems there was no separate VIN for the fixed window cars that year, and the only indication is the A93 code on the fender tag. I also have a couple 318 fixed window 71s on record.

Somewhere I have tag info for at least 2 383 powered coupes (fixed quarter window cars). If I remember correctly, one of them was a 4spd car to boot.

You are correct Eric - I have never found an RL21x1 car. All the coupes I have records for all have RH23x1 VINs, including my parents' Satellite (which for those playing at home, is the reason this site even exists). :)

I thought '72 cars did not have rear side marker lights, or is that just for road runners??

Maybe i'm confused? Are the '71 lights recessed and the others aren't? Maybe that's what I was thinking?!

yeah...the 71s actually look good and integreated...the later models are generic screw-on ones, not even flush-mounted...too bad really
