Ok I might be considering buying this Roadrunner and it seems to have some good options. It's factory sunroof with white vylon canopy top. Has side body trim with door guards. It's an orginal 340 matching and lots of body rust and I wanna know it it worth getting for around 5,000.

Looks like it is a Satellite, not a Road Runner. Road Runners didn't have the two tone body color with the body chrome molding.
If it was a real sunroof road runner I'd say it might be worth it, but for a rusty Satellite, probably not....just my 0.02
BTW, a road runner VIN would start with RM23 while a satellite would be either RL21, RH23, or RP23

The guy said it is because he did own another 72 but sold it. And so that Roadrunner would have a low production option because of the side trim but I guess thats not exactly rare anyways. He said it also had a special gauge setup like something with the second big cluster with a clock but my charger has that also what options did you have for the roadrunners dash? Also was 340 lower production then the 400 rrs in 72?

i really think you should check the vin num. i dont beleive the side trim was an option on a 72 rr. as for the dash it would be the same in a sebring plus, which a lot of them had the two tone paint like the one in your pic.jeff

Get the numbers from the fender tag and post them here and I will tell you how many were made that way (production numbers).

Sounds like a 1972 Satellite with a sunroof to me but who knows?

Let me know ... I will help you out.

This is what the guy sent me for the codes he could not find all of them so hopefully you can tell me some good news on this Roadrunner 1972RM23. Also the guy said he would be giving me 4 good fenders, 2 doors, front valance, decklid, rocker replacment, dash pad,and another front and rear bumper if this isn't screaming deal I don't know what is.

Not to discourage you, but make sure the tag matches the car. The side chrome body trim is code M33 and would show on the fender tag. Also the body side molding (bump strip) is code V5_ and would also be indicated on the tag. Unless someone took a road runner and cloned it to a satellite, that two tone/trim combo was not available on a 72 runner. Do you have a photo of the hood on the car?

Alright he gave me a bunch of pics of the car so hopefully you guys can tell that this a rr not a sebring. And I know sebrings came with different hoods and this one looks original for the car.

maybe you could scratch a lil bit of paint off the lower part of the body to see if there was red under there at one time and someone painted over it for some kind of body damage...idk...and maybe someone really liked the look of chrome trim (eck for me on these cars) if it is indeed a rr...also is it possible the car had 2 tags and one is missing?

Check the VIN number on the tag to the VIN on the cowl and rad support to make sure the tag matches.

But wouldn't it say roadrunner on the title anyways not sebring?Because wouldn't that be easiest to figure this thing out? Because I know this guy can't be lying or anything and hey maybe the guy who ordered it liked the trim because this thing does have alot of options in my opinion.

Personally I think the guy is BSing you. It sure looks like a sebring plus to me. And that is a really fresh looking rr sticker in the basil.

I think $4,000 would be fair from what I can see from the pictures

Have him send you (or better yet go look at it in person) legible photos of the dash VIN, fender tag, radiator support VIN, and cowl VIN stamping (located on the drivers side). If the last six numbers match on all these, and the dash and fender tag read RM23 (and they're not repops) then it's a runner that someone decided to fix up with SSP trim. Also get an interior photo of the passenger side dash....FWIW, the woodgrain bezel should have a roadrunner emblem. Many times when a car is cloned these do not get changed over...

RR, I don't think so, this smells like an SSP from 2000miles away......
