Check this one out!!!

Ok, I know this is a cross post from the eBay of the Day section, but this auction is just too cool to miss. For all you 71 owners, here is far and away the holy grail as far as lenses are concerned... a complete set of NOS exterior lenses for the car.

How COOL is that?

ebay lenses

That's incredible. I wonder how high reserve is set. I know the tail lights are going for anywhere from $150-$200 each and a set of sidemarkers would bring $800+.

No doubt. Bruce and I talked last night about this one, we kinda figured it like this (based on other auctions we've seen lately):

$250 for each marker
$300 for each tail light
$75 for each turn signal

That's $1750 right there. Granted, that includes the "eBay Factor" to their real value... If I was restoring a numbers matching R or V-code car, I'd spend that for lenses.

Well they sold (met reserve) for $1450. I'm surprised reserved wasn't higher, and I'm also surprised someone payed that much!!!

I'm suprized at how low they sold too. It seems like a lot of coin, but what you get for it is simply amazing. Like I've said, for somebody doing a high dollar concorse resto, they are the ONLY way to go.

4dr vs. 2 door

Post by Dave » Wed Mar 03, 2004 9:16 am

You do know the 4dr lenses and the 2dr lenses are different, right? I mean, you can make them work and look ok, but they won't be "right". The trim bezels are different enough (alignment pin location), that they won't work either without modification...

4dr vs 2dr

Post by Eric » Wed Mar 03, 2004 1:12 pm

True the lenses are different between 4dr and 2dr. Besides the locating pin, the curve of the housing is different too (to match the shape of the fender). The difference is barely noticeable though. They also have different part numbers on the housings. The prices for the 4dr lenses aren't that high yet. I just sold two in excellent condition on ebay for about $30 each.
