Hi all, I finally finished gapping the panels and welding everything back up. On to getting my replacement hood and trunk drilled for pins and wing. My fender tag has both options. It appears I have a Go Wing that came with my car. I have no way of verifying that it is original or a PO stuck it on there. And, of course, I ordered a replacement several years ago not knowing that there is a difference between a Go Wing and a Gull Wing. After getting the wing installed, it did not look right to me and I couldn’t figure out why. Now I know. Looks like I’ll be buying a new Gull Wing and selling my unused Go Wing (still in the box). I used my old wing for fitment. I drilled the wing first. I started with finding the centerline and measured from there, following the instructions that came with the replacement wing. I then drilled for the hood pins, which was much easier. I installed the pins in the fenders, placed a dab of black paint on the tips and then closed the hood on the pins. This left a good reference mark on the inside of the hood for me to use to drill. I then drilled a small hole to make sure they were lined up and then drilled the rest of the way.

I drilled the holes for the hood pins a little larger after taking the above image.

Can anyone verify that these holes were 1” from the factory?

Thanks for looking!

I decided to de-rust the inside of the ribs on my hood. I snaked a couple of sections of sprinkler hose through the factory holes where I could. I then pumped Rust911 through for about a day. It worked pretty well. After rinsing and drying, I sprayed the inside of the ribs with Eastwoods Inner frame paint. I then sanded both sides and sprayed with epoxy.

I started working on the front and rear valances. I stripped the front and ran into filler. I found several areas of bad repair attempts (pick, hammer, chisel) damage. As well as, several dents. I hammered and dollied the areas to the best of my ability. I also leaded over the spot weld dimples that were created by the factory where the bracing is attached to the valance. I then got bot panels in epoxy.
