'71 HEMI Loaf - the one they never made!

Hi guys,

just thought I would post a few thumpnail sketches of "could have beens" Plymouth rides. (Yes I occationally procrastinate at work with a few car sketches :-D )

First one is The HEMI Loaf, a 1971 super van, what do you think? Its got the fake air intakes on the roof instead of on the hood!

Second one is a shooting brake Roadrunner, probably a few custombuild cars similar to this around. Í recall having seen both a 71 Challenger and a 65 Mustang panel-van style.

Anyway, enjoy!

I like the wagon concept. It flows very nicely. That van looks like something out of "rollerball". Cool too!

Hi guys,

thanks for the comments on my sketches!
Now the wagon is probably realistic to actually build, where as the van is probably not! At least it would take a seriously good car body builder to make those huge surfaces even and curvature. In the 70'ies thats exactly what Chrysler had - good car body builders!

If you can't really imagine how one of these "Whales" look in reality, I have attached a photo of one!

Well, what do ya think? -looks pretty sweet in real life, right?

The "Runner Wagon" (just made that up) has some similarity to a Dodge Magnum, at least the rear portion. That would be a spiffy grocery getter!

Considering there were Satellite staion wagons I would imagine the raw parts & panels would be available to undertake a real one of these. Not being an expert on such matters (I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express once) the transition from the rear quarter window to the station wagon rear would seem to be the hard part.

The idea of a two door station wagon is not new as there was the Chevrolet Nomad back in the 60's, plus just plain old panel truck type vehicles.

I wonder what it feels like driving from a seating position as high as if you were sitting on the ROOF of a Road Runner?

Only when I was driving a truck and NOT from the influence of any illicit chemicals. That's my story and I'm sticking with it!

Yepp,

I guess the van needs some getting used to:-D

I just rendered the wagon as it seems to be the favorite around here!
The rear door is from a ´77 Buick Century wagon, probably not an easy swap but it might be worth a try:-D
