Greetings!!

Post by 71 clonerunner » Sat Sep 16, 2006 2:44 pm

Hi Gang,

Been meaning to join for about a month now, but technical difficulty has made me late in my endeavours. I have been lurking a bit, but not enough to know who is who here. I have something in common with all of you though, I own a 71 B-Body. Read my screen name and I think you'll know what it is all aboout. :D

I'll post some pics of it when I get to my other computer where my files are. In the meantime, just thought I'd say "HI"!!!!!

BTW, the car is almost complete, but needs some stuff before I feel it is totally where I want it to be for cruising in. I may be seeking techinical advice, as there seem to be a lot of epxperts in this crowd. I am new at this game, so be patient. :help:

For now, Cheers Gang!!!

Hope to see you in the trenches.

Welcome aboard, mate! Looking forward to getting those pix. So what else do you have to do to it and what do you need?

Here's my project: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2333801

Haven't made much progress since those pix were taken as the little compressor I borrowed from a friend couldn't handle the task of sandblasting, so I had to save up for a biggie with more volume. Just got that this weekend, so let the fun begin!

toodles

Well, I need to:

replace the 72 rear bumper with the proper 71
Need all roadrunner emblems
Need T Shifter knob
Needs oil leak fix in engine (eventaully want to get new engine)
tranny needs kickdown linkage
need to get reverse lights working (why is this so tough)
need to plug hole in firewall from original column shifter (slaptstick now)

Thats about it, although I will also be in the market for some new wheels soon too. Looks like I wont have her on the road until next spring.

Sweet Ride!

Post by scottish440 » Sat Sep 16, 2006 11:43 pm

WOW!!! Sweet Ride....Dude!

The plumb crazy purple is great...er should I say "in voilet"

Good luck on getting it back to 71 style......you know it is amazing how much of a gap the 72 bumper leaves against the 71 valance panel....

I love 72 rears though....

Looks like you under hood is done very well...take care...scott

upload picture thingy

Post by scottish440 » Sun Sep 17, 2006 5:14 pm

took me a while to figure out the picture upload thingy......and they sure don't explain what's up here....lol

we have a cap on the amount of pictures we can upload.....

the easiest way to check your upload limit is to go to one of "your" posts...(does not matter if there is a picture in the post)...at the bottom of the post clik the profile button....this gives all of your info....to the left it will show you your upload quota.....and a handy dandy editor to go thru old pics you have posted and delete them.....

i use a photo resizer...to scale my down..to get more on....take care scott

P.S. you can resize the photos you have already posted, delete them and re-upload them to get more space...

Welcome aboard!!

Looks like a nice car! Any side pics of the car?? Looks like it has 73 rear quarter panels with 71 marker lights grafted in?? Also maybe a 73-74 rear valance?? Also looks like a 73-74 engine compartment??

YIKES!!

That sucks for me then. I know the rear bumper is off, buit thought the reat was 71, although the trunk floor is from something else it looks like.

Well, guess I have much work to do then.............

This has been sobering, like I said, I am new at this.

Is it possible the compartment looks different because i have a steel crank 400 from a truck in it?

Where you finding your parts for yours? I have been having some trouble, so anything helps.

Welcome aboard,

your ride looks really good. I like how clean the engine compartment is!

The rear quaters and rear valance looks like it's a '71 to me! Dunno about the enginecomp, haven't really studied a 73-74 under the hood.

Good luck with the last details.

The 71 cars had shock towers where the front shocks had reinforcements on the inner fender wells. The 73-74's had the smoother cover. Go to Ebay and look at the inner fender wells in a 71 and then look at a 73-74 and you will see what I am talking about. Have you check the VIN stampings on the car to see if they match the dash VIN???

Welcome to the Nest!
I've never seen a 71 with a 72 bumper before!
Are those black tail light lenses?
If so the are for a Road Runner not the standard grey lenses that were used on Satellites.

Photobucket is a great way to post pics and yet save the nest's server space...

I think you're right...never noticed it before but that does look like my old '74 RR.

The k-frame and suspension was different and so was the inner fenders, like you stated.

Bizarre! Looks like someone went to a lot of trouble to make a '73/'74 look like a '71/'72.

Oh, you also need to change out the front header panel to a '71 piece. The emblem you have in there plus the condition of your current panel will more than cover the cost of a '71 piece.

Nice ride! 8)
