Okay, I'm dying here, is it rude to ask how much you got this puppy for? Nice find!

100% Death Proof

Re: Look what we found in a parking garage
I offered them $3,800 and they jumped at it....I was willing to pay waaaaaaaaay more but threw that out as a starting price fully expecting them to laugh at it. I really think they had no clue what it was worth and i got the feeling that I could have offered less but like my brother says a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay. Anyway I am a happy guy I love it and can't wait to get going on it.

Wow, and you didn't even hold a gun to their head. Way to go! At that price. I might of robbed a bank to get the money for it. ;^)

Re: Look what we found in a parking garage
hella nice score
did you get the 440 and 727 with it ? or did it turn out that they were long gone ?
congrats
this proves there are still good deals out there

congrats

Re: Look what we found in a parking garage
They are not sure if they have the 440...they are going to check and let me know they remeber him pulling it for rebuild but he passed away and not really sure where the engine is for all they know it could be at a shop but at that price I just wanted to pay for it and get it out of there. If they have the 440 they will want a few bucks for it but it would be worth whatever they want for it.....I do have a 1967 440/727 combo and 2 x 383 engines. I was thinking that I might put a 392 hemi into it as I have access to one as well although I think the 440 would be just fine.
I am just finishing my 72 SSP so I will wait until I finish it before tackling this project. The SSP is a nice ride as it came from California... I am going to do a detailed resto on the GTX and don't care if it takes a few years to complete as I am sure it will but in the meantime I can enjoy the Satellite now that it has a 440 in it. Its funny because I was going to clone my SSP into a GTX now I am going to leave it a SSP.

Re: Look what we found in a parking garage
Nice find! Glad to hear your keeping the 72 SSP tagged SSP, enough clone cars out there...and now you have the real deal to restore. The story behind the GTX will be great conversation at car shows/cruises. Hope they find the engine, but either way, nice find.

Re: Look what we found in a parking garage
If they don't find the original motor I would be interested in that one for sure. I am also glad that I am keeping the SSP as it is because it will be nice some day to take them both to a car show and I really like my SSP it is Tawny Gold so it will be nice to have a real GTX in Yellow. It will be a while before I attempt restoring the GTX as I have put quite a bit of dough into the SSP and plan on putting the finishing touches on it before I even think of tackling THE GTX but at least it WILL be brought back to life.

Re: Look what we found in a parking garage
Excellent score!!.... man I paid 3 grand for my Satellite and that's just the shell as the previous owner wants the drivetrain back. Someone said you found this in Canada? I curious to where you found it?
Re: Look what we found in a parking garage
I found it in Montreal while visiting relatives,,,,I was just about to start the cloning process of my 72 Satellite Sebring Plus into a GTX when I stumbled upon this GTX and well I just had to have it.
The car in currently in safe storage in Ottawa as I live in London....Where are you located?
I recently took the small block out of my 72 and put in a 440 and Well once you go big block you never go back...LOL what a differance the 440 made. My 71 GTX is going to get a very detailed resto.
Welcome to the Nest I have found it to be very informative good bunch of people who love their cars

Man, at $3800 that was the deal of the decade. Nice score! Looking forward to seeing progress pics--hint, hint...

Re: Look what we found in a parking garage
As soon as I start the resto I will post pic's......I still have a few things to tweak on my 72 SSP before I even think of tackling the GTX. It was an incredible deal for sure li would have paid more for it, I am looking forward to seeing it restored. It goes to show you that there are still deals out there to be found.
