I've been the manager of a European car service shop in Florida for about a year and a half. Also a Master Technician with 20 years under my belt. I even did a 6 month stint as a radio talk show host on WMEL AM920 in Melbourne. Specialty has always been drivability and electrical issues on fuel injected cars. It's a little weird managing, being on the other end of it all. Your boss's job always looks so much easier from the other side.
The real beauty of the whole deal is having access to a fully equipped shop 24/7 for my little hobby! 8)

Reviving the thread, lots of new folks have joined since the last post.

Yep, one of the few vocations where you can be wrong 90% of the time and not worry about losing your job.

Yep, I didn't even know about this thread. I can't really answer since I do not have a career. I am not "technically" retired since one needs to be collecting Social Security to be "retired". However, I have been happily 'employment free' since 1999.

I install appliances for a contractor who works for most of the major appliance retailers in the Los Angeles/Orange County area. Been doing that since 2003. Before that worked for Sears for close to 20 years.

Of course, I drive a Mopar while on the job!!!!
