Thanks ct - I thought it would be better to upgrade it something other than cardboard, which is what the original piece felt like.
So, before the heater box goes back in, I need to order the heater control cables. Others have told me to install the heater control cables before the heater goes back in the car and since the car was a drag car in it's past life the cables were missing when I bought the car.


So I decided to move onto prepping the front signal light housings. Since they are aluminum castings they should clean up pretty well.
Here's the before and after shot. Here's the final cleanup. And with some primer on them. Judging by their condition they came unprotected from the factory.
I will be spraying mine a cast aluminum color.

Thanks Kevin......trust me, with the garage only being at 5* celcius yesterday, that primer is going to take a few hours to dry.

Did you media blast the housings? They came out great!

No ct - I did not blast them.
I used this fibre wheel in a drill press. And I also used a wire wheel as it is easier to get it into little crevices that the fibre wheel can't get into.

Man.....with it being this cold in my unheated garage.... There was not alot of work done on the car.
I even had to bring painted parts in the house to dry properly.

I did manage to get the fuel sending unit installed in the gas tank tho..... And I got the parking brake assembly out of the Evaporust and cleaned up - gotta wait for a little warmer weather to paint it.

Hi, were you able to get the trunk floor in there in one piece? Did you have to remove the back panel (not sure of the exact name) to get it in there?

71Beeper - First of all a lot of Great Work and thanks for the pictorial updates. Just keep in mind, the turn signal housing requires a GOOD ground to work properly. You will have to scrape some of the paint off at to top mounting screw. Or make some other provisions for grounding.

CT - yes it is a one piece trunk floor. If you go back to page 8 of my thread you will see pics of it.
It goes in thru the top.....no need to remove the rear panel at all but you will have to notch the trunk pan for the rearmost support brackets that are there for the rear bumper mounts.

Ronnman, thanks for the kind words... I do plan on added extra ground wires to the signal housings. It will be an eyelet connector attached to one of the lower mounting screws and the other end grounded to the lower mounting bolts for the rad. I'll use a little longer bolt and just add an additional nut to ground it.
You can never have enough grounds on a Mopar!!

So, with the weather being so cold out lately, no painting can be done in the garage with no heat.
Instead......with some grunting and groaning and being very careful not to scratch anything I installed the gas tank.
The stainless straps gave me some grief, but I was able to git her done.
