I just saw this thread for the first time and listen to your video of your engine running. What size cam are you running in that 440?

It's a Mopar Performance P4529270 "Resto" 69-71' 440 Six Pack three bolt re-issue. 268/284 .450/.458 lift. Basically the same grind used originally on all HP big blocks around that time.

Wow that actually sounds really good. I plan on going with a MP .474 grind and thought it might be a tad quite in my HP383. I'm guessing that yours sounds good cause of the headers. What size exhaust and mufflers are you using? Do you like the performance of the cam so far? And how hard is it to tune a six pack setup? My old man is telling me not to do the six pack setup because its hard to tune and work with as far as reliability.

TTI headers (2" primaries) into their 3" x-pipes and Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers. Sounds a bit different from that video with the tips on it now.

How do I like the cam? Love it, 19+Hgs of vacuum at idle, very streetable and goes like a bat out of hell.

Hard to tune a six-pack? No, with basic carburetor knowledge it's just like tuning three separate Holley's, they just happen to be on the same motor. There are a few specific tuning issues associated with the set-up, plenty of info available on-line here and elsewhere.

For us old school motor heads, nothing is cooler to look at. Ok, maybe two AFBs sitting on top of a Hemi.

Another first for my restored car, I backed it out of the garage early Sunday into a wet and rainy day. First time I've used the windshield wipers for their intended purpose since the restoration and so far no water has been found where it shouldn't be. Finally over my water phobia.
Proceeded to drive it to the 2010 Seattle Mopars Unlimited All Mopar Spring Round-Up (CarDomain's coverage). It rained all morning, let up late morning and dried out a bit then started up again late afternoon. Turn out was down for sure this year however a lot more newer cars there this year, including more new Challengers in one place than I have seen to date. Only one other car in my class showed up, pretty original 73' Satellite Custom Station Wagon.




8/1/2010, First time the car has placed at a general all make classic car show since I started showing it, "2010 Shoreline Classic Car Show", winner "Best in Class" (best Mopar). About a mile from home, 225+ cars of all types.

Doug,Great Resto-mod! What kind of sub-frame connectors did you use? I plan on using sub-frame connectors in my project and I like the fact that you didn't have to cut through the floor pan to install these.

Thanks, currently changing up the brakes on the car, reworking the rears to allow for the originally planned rallye wheels and upgrading the rotors on the front to the unicast 11.75" rotor. Awaiting the new Wilwood calipers for the 1" thick rotors. Stand by for another "appearance update" shortly.

Back on the road again after three months downtime changing around a few things.



Now with the "brushed" trim rings and a change in front tire size from 235-60x15 to 245-60x15.

Rotors sourced from Summit, 11.75" Cordoba rotors.

Spindle bearing adapters from DoctorDiff to allow the larger bearing rotors to fit the 70-72' disc brake spindles.

Caliper adapters (AR000) are made by AREngineering and I sourced them from DoctorDiff as well.

Wilwood Dynapro 120-9692 lug mount calipers to fit the 1' rotors sourced from The Car Shop, cancelled my initial Summit order after they jerked me around for 6 weeks and still couldn't get me a ship date.

The hoses are Russell brand 15" straight female AN3 with a 90 degree 1/8" pipe to AN3 adapter at the caliper and a frame mount AN3 to inverted flare adapter to the brake line. I've had them for a while and don't recall where I got them, Summit maybe.
