Those are 71 valances. 72s are different.

I have found a used one. Not cheap though.

I paid $550.00 for mine about 2 years ago. Especially when I found out that they have no plans to reproduce the '72 version. They don't feel that there's enough of the '72s out there to get their money back on making them. Looking at the pictures of the one in the accident. It looks to me like a good body shop could repair it, as it's not ripped, or has holes in it.

It might be repairable, and I certainly won't scrap it, but as always with sheet metal, you're generally better off starting with a better part, than putting a bunch of labor into straightening a bent one.

I have found one priced at $500 + s/h. That same $500 will probably buy about 6-8 hrs labor.

Wow, they sure are. I never thought about it, but with the different bumper contours, the valance has to be different also.

Wow that is a lot. Now I know why some people redo Non tip ones into tip ones.

Had the appraisal today. Hoping to at least get a budget number from Hagerty this week.

Meanwhile, I've gotten back to work on the motor swap. Trying to make good use of the down time.

Still waiting to hear back on the appraisal. Should here something today or Monday.

Patience is starting to wear thin.

You going to get the used valance or try and modify an NOS one.

Probably go with a used valance... depending on what's available once the insurance company finally cuts me a check.

Have mine with Hagerty as well. I'll be with watching this to see what kind of experience you have with them. FWIW, I've only heard good things about claims experiences with them.

Finally got the appraisal today. Took several phone calls. The Hagerty adjuster assigned to my claim works some weird hours and takes off every Friday and Monday apparently. I ultimately worked through another adjuster to get the appraisal approved.

They pretty much gave me everything I asked for with regards to parts. Certainly didn't short me in that department. I'm probably going to need at least one bumper bracket which they did not approve, but apparently they want to wait until I get it disassembled, confirm what I suspect, and then issue a supplement.

I think they did come in really cheap on the labor. Only 9.3 hours total labor, including refinishing a used replacement valance. Once I get the valance, I'll get a quote from the body shop, then submit it back to Hagerty.

Check is in the mail, so I went ahead and bought the valance since it will be the long lead item, and the first thing that must go back on the car. I'll probably wait to buy the bumper and exhaust until after I've got everything disassembled.

Meanwhile, I've still got plenty to do with my motor project.
