http://www.tpigman.com/72RR.MPG (<- click) You asked how it runs with a 470 stroker kit?
also my web site has all the information about stroking a 400 CID and a link to 440 source. The stroker kit was less than 2K .. but then I had to have comp roller rockers, cam, Ross Pistons .. you know . the basic stuff..
400 CID to 470 CID Long rod
Stroke 3.915"
Rod Length 6.760"
Piston Height 1.238"
Rod Ratio 1.726
CAM SPECS
ADV DUR: 288 / 288
DUR @ .50 243 / 243
VALVE LIFT .550 .550
LOBE SEP: 110.0
It's just a few seconds of a run where I ran out of road before I could get into 3rd gear ... Note the 2nd gear smoke and sway ... wild times!

The impact of branding and the emotional value these cars generate says a lot about nostalgia and human emotion. GTXs are also worth more too!
For me it's the stripe package, there is no car on the road with as much presence as a 71/72RR. But without the decals.... it's just not the same. I nearly bought a GTX last year but luckily with Eric's help passed at the last minute due to dodgy VIN TAGS. Now I wonder what the hell I was thinking... it might have been bad-ass black, but it looks like an old man's chariot.
And then you have this one...

Sorry if this has been discussed before...
71 was the last year for the GTX on its own the 72 73 74 rr with a 440 became a road runner GTX so you got the best of both worlds

Regarding the rarity of the 1971 Sebring Plus vs. the GTX, according to the Chrysler Production Option Code Book, total production of the Sebring Plus was 10,700 and GTX was 2,942 (2,703 shipped). How many of each type remain today, I cannot say.
