Ok found this link over on Moparts. Guys, you have GOT to download this PDF and read the Herlitz interview. There are some AMAZING prototype pictures and concept drawings of the 71s. Stuff I'd never seen.

Ok guys, just kicking around some ideas on all of this. First, we obviously don't have any info on funeral arrangements, other than from the allpar post, looks like they will be in the Detroit area, and will be at least a week or more away.

I think it would be really cool to have as many of us from the Nest that can, to attend the funeral or at least visiting hours as a group. Maybe get something made up to give the family (like some of Bruce's artwork), and I'll start a specific thread that those that won't be able to attend can post here and we'll print it out and give that to the family as well.

The additional thought is - depending on weather of course - to see how many 71s we could get organized, and see if the family would be interested in having in the processional. Project Blue Bird isn't ready yet obviously, but I'd toss the Satellite on the trailer and tug her up there for this. Anybody else?

I just posted this on the thread over at Moparts, and thought folks here would be interested too. When I was up to see Mr. Herlitz (even though he told me to call him John, and I obliged while there, he will always be Mr. Herlitz to me) I did think enough in advance to take this along to have him sign it.

I would love to get involved in something like that, but doubt i can. Wish i could though. One of these days, I'd be absolutely fanatical about a gathering. I'm starting small going to an all mopar show this July, here in Iowa. Maybe I can put together a display board in honor (a lot of people put up boards of their cars, so this will be different), as i'll most likely going to be the only "later" mopar there.

I'm right with you guys on the best looking cars, despite being told that "the 69s are the best mopars hands down no arguments" by about everyone around here (they are cool and i like em, but i LOVE these)d

FYI, the hubcaps are the popular 14 inch, i believe, hubcaps used on sattys and barracudas, maybe others...see em on ebay often.

Sad to hear he passed on.

Kinda sad in that entire interview you linked to he only mentioned like 3-4 lines about the '71s. :(

Dave, let me us know when details on the funeral are public. If anything is this weekend I can go. Maybe Monday also.

I'm sadder now than ever that I missed his phone call to me! Dave, you know you can use any cartoon I have to do something in honor of Mr. Herlitz... Even the "new" one you've seen. I also have larger files of ALL the cartoons for the Nest if you need one for output...

Good read. .. but I'm saddened he didn't care much for the 73/74's since they are some of my favorite cars ever. ..

It would have been interesting to see the car with the rear glass and pillars he wanted. ..Damn Dodge Windows. .. :?

Did you have any involvement in the design of the 72-74s?

Actually I was out of the program by that time. I had gotten a transfer into another studio and I was working on the Volare and Aspen program.

I think if he was involved maybe things would of been different. He did like the 72 rear bumpers.I like the 71 tail lights better than the 72.
