Just Got Back

Post by aerodynamic » Sat Oct 06, 2007 7:54 pm

Hey guys, just got back from a honeymoon in Scotland and Ireland. The only two American cars I saw in two weeks were both in Ireland. One 70's Trans Am and one 1st generation B-Body Mopar! We were looking for a parking spot and drove by the Satellite. I couldn't believe it. I found a spot as fast as I could and ran to where he was (dragging the wife behind me), but wouldn't ya know it he was already gone when I got there. I can't imagine driving something like that there. City streets are impossibly tight for even a little car, which I was driving (a Pugeot, of all things). Anyone here ever driven right-drive before? New experience for me driving on the left side of the road as well. Only tapped curb twice and mirror once. After that the wife instinctively folded the left mirror in whenever we got into a city. Guess that was a little too close for her comfort, lol. I have to admit I was damn nervous when we set out from Hertz at the Dublin airport. I did get the hang of it without killing anybody but it's not easy. Also, looking at a speedometer in Kilometers takes getting used to. The speed limits are pretty fast for some rural areas, and when you're doing the limit you're still slowing people down.
An interesting experience....hours of boredom interrupted by moments of stark terror. BUT, I learned a new skill and had a great time.
